Makes me sad whenever I think of Kate Murphy and Claudia Lane. I know running is littered with cases like theirs through the years but I've only started following the sport recently. I hope they are both doing well wherever they are.

She was training with OTC and raced once or twice. Then Covid hit and she went home to VA.
It would be great to see her back running and competing again.

No chance Sarah Baxter is part of a running group, unless she is a coach. Baxter was a superstar in high school, and will always be a legend in Cali. She no longer runs , not even a hobby jogger.
Yeah, but she went with the $10k buy in and promises a strong down line. She’s definitely on the team.

Kate is the absolute best! She has talked about a coaching switch out West..I will always be rooting for her success.
I thought I read a few years back that the "Murph" (before Clayton Murphy was called that) had Popliteal Artery Entrapment Syndrome and had to have portions of her calf muscles removed to allow the artery to carry blood properly to the lower leg. That can be a painful condition, kind of like chronic exertional compartment syndrome. Having portions of her muscles removed affected how she ran biomechanically so it was like she could never really run without pain anymore. I think that's the reason she never competed past her freshman year in college. Reason I mention this is because that condition is extremely rare in females; more so in males.
Yea Kate is a pretty cool girl. A lot of the people criticizing her in this thread really know nothing about her. To know so little and speak so boldly ... kinda sad lol.
