With that short arm swing of his, he looks like 1:29.6 pace on 600s is incredibly easy. He then runs a 1:24 and finishes up a set of 43s 300s with a 39. 3k Saturday going out in 4:20 then running 1k in 2:30 and finishing a bit under 8 (probably under 7:50 in reality) then Millrose mile probably in 3:50-51.
Smooth as butter.

And so is Ferlic!
Like their videos a lot. Upvoted!
What impressed me as much as the workout was Ron Warhurst. He's nearly 80 and has as much enthusiasm and energy as he did 40 years ago. So freakin smart. Knows how to prepare athletes. Wish he could bottle himself up and distribute around the country.

Not that unrealistic, if Kessler is in ca. 3:34 1500m shape right now. 3:34 is also his PB.
why do you yanks always go on and on about mediocre talent. please give us some peace
Yank this buddy

LOL. Hobbs Kessler was 4th best U20 1500m runner in the world last year. Behind Kenya and Ethiopia, which are well known for birth date crudities.

Agree, that was great. Cool video.

I wonder the same thing.
Preach!
Do people still think that "The Michigan" is a hard workout or actually gets anyone in shape?
Good for fine-tuning and a confidence boost (because it's so light), but the rests are just so long for mile-pace running.

Eh. Disagree. Warhurst knows his stuff.

Would be nice to know recovery on these reps. Like you can't say something is a monster workout unless you know recovery. A 39 second 300 is nothing without context, like top middle distance women could hit 39-40 if they had enough recovery, but hitting 39s off of 2min recovery is hard for even world class dudes.
I think I missed some news - is Hobbs not going back to Flagstaff?
Yeah it's a solid workout and he's clearly in good shape, but this won't scare any of the other 3:55 dudes out there. Any of them could do this workout.
That said, this could be very in control for him and he could still be ready to pop off at Millrose. Just can't say that based on this workout alone.
1600, no rest into a 1.2 mile threshold, 60 second rest and then 1200, threshold, 800, threshold, 400. Marathoners do it twice in the elite program. It’s a killer if you actually do the workout. Just the ladder by itself is easy
