There, I said it.
There, I said it.
Athing Mu could break the US 1500m men’s record. There, I said it.
Highly doubtful.
World class 400m runner and #1 in the world in 800m.
Nobody with those credentials has ever been a top miler.
Closes to it was Juantorena. I cannot locate the data but I think he ran around a 3:40 1500m near the end of his career.

Apparently you never heard of Caster Semenya.
I think so as well, Great 400 and 800 runner so people think she wont be great at 1500, but she has the body type for the 1500, Alberto Juantorena did NOT Have the body type for the 1500
With all that said her 1500 m times have been mediocre at best and actually kind of weak...
416 last year... 418 converted from mile this year... she's 15 to 20 seconds off world class level... 10 second off ncaa winning...
She would never win at 1500m and theffort to be world class would hurt her other times as to make it beyond dumb...
Prediction she will never compete beyond 1k, in any meaningful way, and her career will be better for it... endurance is not her thing...

I see you
Let's see her actually double in the 400 and 800 before we start getting all Gaga for other distances. She barely has the American 800-meter record and has been lucky to hit her stride in the 400 and 800 when International competition is weak. She's very good maybe even great but she still has to prove that by continuing to do well. And double...
Then how come her best 1500m time sucks by world class standards?
That mile race she ran in was a complete joke. Also I assume she's training for the 400/800.
What I'm saying with my original post is that if she focused on the 1500m and ran in serious competition, she would wreck people. Just look at her run, it seems obvious to me. Oh well.
shes a class above the rest wrote:

I don't know it's kind of obvious that other top runners like caster semenya, could run sub 4-minute 1500 , and also faster than her at 400 and 800
But it's kind of obvious that she can't otherwise why would she be running such slow times at 1500m. Either you're saying she's lazy and doesn't give a good effort or she just sucks at 1500m
Maybe I'm ignorant, but it doesn't seem like she runs 1500m races in good competition. And I don't think she trains for the 1500m. Am I wrong?
Dude if she was running 4 0 8 or 406 you would have a good argument but she's not she's running 4:16 and 4:18 so I'm in the kind of sucks at 1500m camp... she's never been that good at 1500m or the mile.. growing up she ran it a lot AAU... and while pretty good for a prep Runner she was still getting beaten by a lot of girls
Schweizer's PR at 19 was 4:17. Mu's was 4:16.
Purrier's PR at 19 was 4:18. Mu's was 4:16.
Simpson's PR at 19 was 4:32. Mu's was 4:16.
Grace's PR at 19 was 4:32. Mu's was 4:16.
Houlihan's PR at 19 was 4:22. Mu's was 4:16.
Tell me again why she can't break the American record.

Because that's a retarded way to analyze data.... You're just cherry picking the data that fits your narrative....
It's like the fine-tuning argument for God ... people just pick the data that fits their story... but they throw out the obvious point that the Universe looks exactly like it would if there was no God ... and nothing like it would if there was a god
You're doing the exact same thing but you're doing it with running.
And I could find a dozen Runners who had fast 800 meter times as well as fast to 1500 times at 20 years old .... who were way ahead of her
Mary Cain ran a 159 800m and a 404 1500m while still in high school but never got any better.
Faith KIPYEGON was running 356/158 at Mu's age
Point is.... mu is 20 seconds and more behind some of the best ever 1500m runners at her age... and they were way closer to her at 800m.... like 2 seconds off her times...
Meaning she com poo aritively sucks at 1500m
By your logic every girl who can run a 4:19 1500m at the age of 19 has a good chance to break the American record. Which is why it is retarded logic

Meaning she com poo
Now be nice…
Dribe welteji... 159 800, 358 1500m, age 19.... meaning Mu better bust her as to protect her 3 second 800 meter lead and forget about trying to bridge a 20 second 1500m deficit... or else she won't win at anything...
Nope. I picked the current top Americans. Most will be shocked to see that to Americans develop slowly. I listed 5. If you call that cherry picking, I challenge you to list at least 5 current Americans in the range of 3:55-4:02 type PRs and list their PRs at age 19. You will lose. I didn't cherry pick at all. These are the only women that I think I left out who are in that range. Norris PR at 19 was 4:27. Mcgee was 4:16. Osika was 4:17. That's about everyone that I am aware of. That is the opposite of cherry picking. So Mu is faster than nearly every top American at the age of 19 but people don't think she can improve as much as women who were training for that distance? Logic says that she should be able to improve more than them.
I just quickly reviewed all time top 25 women 600m list and all time top 25 women 1000m list. One person on both lists, Caster Semenya, plus honorary top 25 women 1000m person, Francine Niyonsaba. Please note: not one man on top 25 600m list and top 25 1000m. I will name Nick Symmonds as honorary top 25 1000m person. Let's see Athing Mu make top 25 1000m list before we label her a great 1500m athlete.
Well, she is better than the all-time best Americans at the same age. Seem like that means something. Ans she did it on 30 MPW as opposed to 75. Imagine what she would do at 50MPW.
