I don't use high stacked shoes with drop so I won't even try the normal road shoes. I am really a barefoot shoe zero drop runner. But I train a lot in spikes (XC style on paths, grass, snow, easy terrain). I just recently bought at pair of slightly used dragonfly 2020 and I agree they feel very responsive. I don't believe I get a lot more in return than normal shoes or barefoot (which I run a lot with), but I will test the feel and speed eventually (have not been able to check on track). Since I cannot use those road shoes I might add a thin rubber sole to the dragonfly to make them road flats (keeping the holes for the spikes I can use them with spikes or blanks when in flats) I saw someone do that to make themselves treadmill flats.
These shoes are not carbon, but they have a responsive zoomx under the front midfoot and a pebax plate going all the way including the outer spike plate and to the heel. This combo kindof feels springy and easy to roll the foot over or kinfo just land, support and spring back again.
