How do most runners avoid getting injured for years on end?
How do most runners avoid getting injured for years on end?
Haven't been injured in 5+ years, <2:45 marathon. Some things that have worked for me:
- Eat a lot of meat and fruit (good nutrition). Ignore the morons advocating for a vegan diet. Some beer is also good.
- Be reasonable with your mileage. Don't go from 40MPW to 110MPW in a single week.
- Don't overdo intervals - my last injury came from hill sprints when I was way underprepared. This was 6 years ago.
- Mix up running surfaces, speeds, and shoes. A mixture of treadmill, trails, and pavement is ideal in my opinion.
Finally, eat meat. And eggs. The best way to rebuild your animal body is by consuming other animals.
Good luck, and have a blessed weekend.
Depends if they are David45 or not.
"Getting injured for years on end" would require a pretty damn serious injury. I mostly avoid this by trying not to get hit by trucks or fall off of roofs or encounter any of the other kinds of trauma that might take years to recover from.
They don't:
https://www.yalemedicine.org/conditions/running-injury
"at least 50 percent of regular runners get hurt each year—some estimates put the percentage even higher—sometimes from trauma, such as a fall, but more often from overuse."
yup, this definitely sounds like a david45 thread.
Move along

Quite the opposite actually.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LZnZSTes_YIs it possible to get injured on only 10 MPW?

Haha, "Lame Rangers", a fake documentary about fake athletes faking a fake diet. Follow any vegan "influencer" runner on YouTube for the schadenfreude of watching them disintegrate metal and physically.
I was vegan/veggie for over a decade as a gullible sucker punk and as constantly sick and injured. Now I am old, eat steak and eggs daily, train twice as hard, perform ten time better against my peers and laugh at the concept of residual pain, much less injury.

You know it won't happen, so why keep coming here?
PEDs?
Because people like you keep ruining it
No one likes you, William. It's that simple and you are known to nearly every running community in America now thanks to this place and Reddit.

yes it is. and early coming back from injury it is not weird for 2 miles a day to be too far. even if its jog walked.
if you ever actually do want to run. it might be worth your time to read bowermans book- jogging. and start even easier than they did. but if you read his book, and know some of his history, it might help your pride some, if you go way easier than a lot of people for a year, knowing some big people had to start small too
So how much should you run when coming back?
Why are you taking advice from here? It's never what you want to hear anyway. We are not professionals.
