I'd actually say yes, for a variety of reasons.

Maybe I should expand on that.

You're taking people who are not only literate but are computer literate, have an internet connection and have access to and most likely own a computer/laptop/smartphone with internet access. That puts it ahead for a start. Then there's the correlation with distance running and IQ. You have a large proportion of college athletes (i.e. further education) - that sways it.

Letsrunners as a group probably doesn't include the same amount of people in institutions, with learning disabilities, Down's syndrome and so on as 'American people'.

People who are very unwell are selected out and unlikely to be here, posting on the internet.

Even the literacy factor on its own would probably mean that the IQ of letsrunners > IQ of 'American people'/or any country's people.

If you mean the average LRCer *who posts*--then yes, certainly above average, and maybe a standard deviation or more above average (i.e. 115+ IQ).

[If you don't mean posters, but simply people who stop by the site, it's harder for me to assess--but I'd bet we'd be looking at a three-digit average IQ for that group, too.]

LRCers strongly tend to be college-educated or college-bound. This by itself would correspond to a higher IQ than the U.S. average of ~100.

There are other factors that I'd rather not get into.
