There must be some great runner who had a son or daughter who also became a great runner.
I just can't think of anyone. Any ideas?

I think he said great runners. They both have to be great.
Easy ... the only father-son pair to win Olympic Gold Medals in the same T&F event-
Steve Ovett and Yuriy Borzakovskiy.
Steve Ovett wins Moscow 800 07/26/80
Yuriy Borzakovskiy born to single Russian mother in outlying village of Moscow in 04/12/81
Yuriy Borzakovskiy wins Athen 800 08/28/2004
Daniel & David Rudisha are/were both Olympic medalists
If there was some proof that Ovett really was Borzakovskiy's father, it would certainly be them. However, it could've been any of the other white middle distance athletes at the Moscow games (though they certainly do bear some similarity).
The Gregoreks are a pretty solid combo, John was a legit world-class runner in the 80s and Johnny has his 3:49, but neither of them ever won anything big. Kiprop's dad was also a sub-4:00 guy, but wasn't competitive on the world stage. Obviously Asbel has several international golds, but he's also serving a doping violation.
Honestly I think it's probably just the Centrowitz duo. Sr was the American record holder and qualified for two Olympic teams (though 1980 was boycotted). Jr's accomplishments don't really need rehashing, but suffice to say he is a "great" runner.
Pretty wild that the Ovett-Borzakovskiy conspiracy is included so prominently on Borzakovskiy’s Wikipedia page: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yuriy_Borzakovskiy
Seb Coe and Nigel Amos have to be high on this list. Coe is probably the father of Amos based on my research.
The McColgans have a legitimate argument.
Six Olympic teams between them! - ‘88, ‘92, ‘96, ‘12, ‘16, ‘21 - between 4 events: steeple, 5k, 10k, Marathon.
Olympic silver at 10k for Liz in ‘88 - Eilish’s best Olympic finish is 9th in the 10k this year.
World Championship gold at 10k for Liz in ‘91 - Eilish has placed 10th at the WCs in ‘19 & ‘17 (5k) & ‘13 (steeple).
Liz also won the World 1/2 Marathon Champs in ‘92, and the ‘91 New York and ‘96 London Marathons - long story short, she was an extremely accomplished athlete.
Here are their PBs:
1500
Eilish 4:00.97
Liz 4:01.38
3000
Eilish 8:31.00
Liz 8:38.23
5000
Eilish 14:28.55
Liz 14:59.56
10,000
Liz 30:57.07
Eilish 30:58.94
Half Marathon
Liz 1:07:11*/1:08:42
Eilish 1:07:48
*not record eligible
Marathon
Liz 2:26:52
Eilish McColgan’s highest IAAF points score on the track is 1225 (14:28.55 5k)
Liz McColgan’s highest IAAF points score on the track is 1195 (30:57.07 10k)
Matt Centrowitz Jr.’s highest IAAF points score on the track is 1239 (3:30.40 1500)
Matt Centrowitz Sr.’s highest points score on the track is 1163 (13:12.91 5k)
McColgans: 1225 + 1195 = 2420
Centrowitzes: 1239 + 1163 = 2402
McColgan!, McColgan!, McColgan!...

Who else has 1:41.73 in common? Pretty hard to refute.
3:51.84c Tim Hacker (81 HS, 85 NCAA) (converted from 3:34.66 1500)
3:59.04 Olin Hacker (15 HS, 20 NCAA)
Then there is 1984 Olympian, 0Uncle Steve Lacy, at about 3:50.54c (converted from a 3:33.99 1500).
Wilie White and Kellie White
Lennox Miller and Inger Miller
Millard Hampton and Millard Hampton Jr.
Leroy and Cameron Burrell
Billy and Gregory (Yusuf Saad Kamel) Konchellah. still Nr 42 and 25 all-time in the 800m.

My dad: 2:56 net downhill marathon, qualified for Boston but didn’t run at Boston cause Boston is for hobby joggers that don’t wanna be hobby joggers. Ran 16:20 for his work fun run and claims it as his 5k PR
Me: 17:21 turkey trot with the flu and a 4:55 closing mile to bring home an extra turkey, also opened an 800m in 25.2 meaning I have the balls to be world class, once the EPO kicks in I will be.
My mom: 32 minute 5k, only runs downhill for training cause uphill “hurts her knees” or something. Is the only woman I know that can competitively arm wrestle me
My sister: went to 3 track practices and decided it isn’t for her. Claims she can beat varsity 100/200m boys in a race
My brother: plays lots of fortnite, eats lots of junk food, and rides the bench on his junior basketball team
Debbie Byfield and Kelli White.
Martin & Kip Keino
Pat Boone and daughter, Debbie
Me 16:10 5k, 2 stressies, and took the win on several warmups.
My Mum, 23:34 5k, 4:05 marathon, 1 parkrun win, women's FKT around my garden, 2 kids, 1 hip replacement.
My Dog once ran a 5:54 mile (off no training) before deciding he didn't want to go run with me anymore.
