Has been rumored on here for a while, but Emily Infeld made it official on her IG - she’s leaving BTC. Has been a rough 6-12 months for their woman’s squad (and not much better for the men’s outside of Woody and Grant). Hopefully a new coaching situation can keep Emily healthy. The talent is undeniable but Jerry could never really keep her healthy for an entire year.

Everyone fleeing a sinking ship before it goes under?

Beginning a new journey in 2022. After 9 years filled with my running career’s highest highs and lowest lows, I’ve left the BTC.
I will be forever grateful to my teammates and coaches for the time with the team. I will always be proud of competing at World XC in 2013, medaling in 2015 (the first of many outdoor track medals for the club), competing for the US in the 2016 Olympics, being 9 seconds shy of a medal at the 2017 World Champs, and winning USXC in 2018. For those accolades I thank all those around me. The people of the club are super special. I have loved watching my teammates continue to reach amazing highs and I will always be cheering them on.
I’m leaving on good terms, confident I did everything I could to make this situation work.I know I still have more running in me and need to approach training differently.
It is scary to leave a team, especially one I’ve been part of for almost a decade. Sometimes you need to step away in order to progress.
Right now I’m focused on training for me. I’m the happiest I’ve been in years! And while I will miss seeing all those on BTC daily, I know it was time I follow a different path. I’ll be toeing the line in a week, at USXC, for the first time, as a professional, not running for this team.

I wondered about that but as well… it reads like she wanted to stay and tried everything but that BTC wasn’t willing to budge on training regimens or something… wishing her the best.
It does seem BTC may be past their prime with so many athletes jumping ship.
I guess she forgot to ask for your input.
OK clearly this poster has it out for her. Sad but that's this site.
Doesn't say she left Nike but is that assumed?
Rumor is that Mike Smith is her new coach.
Infeld is at the age and stage where she needs to move to the roads. I don't think that Shumacher wants to coach roadies. Emily no longer has anyone to train with at BTC. The team is getting younger and focused solely on track. I wish her luck as she is a very likable personality that brings some needed joy to the sport.
Emily still has talent left. She ran a 10k pr and 1500 pr this past year, but was overcooked at trials. I hope this new coaching situation helps her out.

I've been saying Infeld is gone since the end of October.
I don't think the group is screwed, but this is a pivotal time. In the past two years that's:
Kate Grace
Emily Infeld
Colleen Quigley
Gwen Jorgensen
Marielle Hall
Amy Cragg
Sinclaire Johnson
Shelby Houlihan
... leaving the group, retiring, or getting banned. More people gone than are currently on the team. In the same time they've brought in:
G DeBues Stafford
Lucia Stafford
Andrea Seccafien
All three are fine athletes in better form then a good chunk of the leavers at least, but at the end of the day it's DeBues-Stafford leaving Scotland due to training complications from covid and bringing her sister and best friend with her. It's three athletes kinda falling into BTC's lap already ready made(or well developed at least with Lucia Stafford). The last actual Schumscher recruit was Johnson and she's gone already.
It'll be interesting to see how the team progresses this year and next.
Maybe they should have put her on this advanced burrito diet too?

Same with Seccafien. She left Australia to compete and they wouldn't let her back in. it wouldn't be surprising if Canada told her she had to be closer to home if she still wanted funding.
