Interesting that he chose that particular photo.
Hoka got hot with the general public somehow. I saw a feature on a hypebeast website even, and eBay resellers on YouTube mention Hokas as great finds at thrift shops.
I'd love Cam to get some world results, but they never seem to happen when they matter most.
Hope our Canadian from BC picks up a new sponsor and gets the results on the big stage soon.

I think that photo was taken at the Olympic training camp in Tokyo before the Olympic marathon. If I’m mistaken, I stand corrected.
So he was wearing his sponsored shoes (HOKA) but I think the gear was supplied by team Canada athletics.
Interesting to note that Canadian Olympic marathoners look a lot chunkier compared to Japanese Olympic marathon runners or Ethiopian Olympic marathon runners in general. Those guys are buff.
Tokyo Games marathon. 2021 (Sapporo)
1. Kipchoge 2:08:38
2. Nageeye. 2:09:59
3. Abdi. 2:10:00
Canuck Warriors:
46. Ben Preisner 2:19:27
48.Trevor Hofbauer 2:19:57
72. Cam Levins 2:28:43
If you read his post he thanks HOKA.
Why he choose a picture where he has on Olympic team (nike) gear is curious.
A long time Cam fan. I hope he has a great year.
So this means the Canadian marathon record will be sub-2:08 by the end of the year.
A lot of world-class runners are leaving HOKA. They've realized these shoes are costing them time on the roads.

Great for training, but junk for racing.
You’re all just soft and don’t have the balls to run fast without your “super shoes”

There are no “balls” in starting behind others, just poor planning and misguided ethos,

Training with the other two guys on the Canadian marathon squad while wearing Hokas. He's done with them & isn't obligated to go all-out for them. The post was professional. It's a non-issue.
imo, hokas are trash. Also, I think cam is done. He trained so freaking hard back in the day with those 200 mile weeks I don't see how an old cam has any options left to switch things up. He is still a legend.

Where is he a legend?

I had no idea this guy was still running
I have to agree, the photo is rather awkward

He's probably got dozens of photos of himself wearing all Hoka gear. Why thank them for helping resurrect his career by wearing mostly Nike gear? The company that dropped him like a rock shouldn't get any play unless he's going back to Nike. Most of the pros that leave a sponsor before signing with another sponsor use photos with their former sponsor or with generic gear. That's why this is odd.

He was tearing it up in the early 2010s (back when Canadian distance running was pretty terrible over all).
Bronze at the Commonwealth games 10000m, Canadian record in the marathon. Remember when he beat a prime Rupp in the 2 mile after doubling back from a 3:54 mile a few hours earlier? That was awesome.
Cam is definitely a legend.
