Val Constien still no sponsor??

To get meaningful sponsorship these days you either have to win the gold or else you have to be posting a lot on social media to show how woke you are. Looks like Constien is neither a good medalist nor does she virtue signal on her social media. Unfortunately, it's usually woke people that get hired in the PR departments handing out sponsorships which is why your see so many women runners doing the #MeToo thing.

She has great coaches but must have a lousy athlete representative to not have a sponsorship I guarantee that she is either not represented or has a lousy agent.

She should get into mountain running like Grayson Murphy, who finished behind Val and is sponsored.

She's a bit unmarketable.

If your hypothesis is true it's a result of "non-woke" fans of the sport not pulling their financial weight. Based on my experiences on LRC many in this category do not:

1. Subscribe to streaming services

2. Pay entry fees at live events

3. Purchase for gear

4. Shop at RSGs

5. Pay race entry fees

No. You are the one that said "She's a bit unmarketable" it is therefore incumbent on you to say why. Offer the proof that backs up your assertion.

She has a full time 40 hour a week job and is committed to that job and the company she works for.

She is proud of working full time and also being able to make the Olympic Team and Oly. final.

She seems proud of being unsponsored, being a blue collar runner, paying all her own expenses.

Maybe sponsors believe she does not need or want sponsorship support, and/or her job commitment limits her potential improvement/success.

Maybe she does not want, need or seek out sponsorship.

Part of her claim to fame is having success at high levels while unsponsored.

There are likely advantages for her to not commit to sponsorship. The requirement/terms of sponsorship deals may be an unnecessary distraction for her.

If this is true and she doesn’t want sponsorship then I feel like she hired the right Agent. Josh is guaranteed to not get her a sponsorship.

Nothing is incumbent upon me, but glad you are coming up empty. Here are some considerations - 1. She is not tech savvy. Just joined Tik Tok 2. Has 8000 followers on IG 3. Past performance is not an indicator of future performance, especially if she is not a professional 4. She has a full-time job outside of running 5. 4:33, 9:18.34 (339th All-Time Performance), 16:09 Personal Bests 6. Not a guarantee for 2024 Biggest concern, as a sponsor, is her unwillingness to dedicate 100% full attention to running. She will be up against many full-time athletes and I would never bank on lightning striking twice. I like her form, I like the way she races, I just am not convinced if everything didn't play out to her fortune (COVID postponement; Fallon fall) she even makes the team in 2020. She will not garner more eyeballs than Emma Coburn, Courtney Frerichs, Colleen Quigley, or Leah Fallon or another great emerging steepler by 2024. Pass.

Yeah seems like companies would rather spend their small sponsorship budget on a runner right out of college who is all in and has the eyes of younger runners on them because that's who's most influenced by running influencers ex Tinman.
