And I would not give you a good reference either, unless the employer was seeking a narrow minded and ignorant azzhole. Then you would be an outstanding fit.

Most employers wouldn't use a character reference from a 'friend'.
In fact I don't think any employer would take a reference that wasn't related to employment, school or volunteer work of some kind. Or perhaps sports related if you had a coach who would vouch for you.
For all they know a friend could be someone you drink with on the weekends.

What you say about Greg is true, but he isn't wrong in this case. I've worked jobs ranging from dishwasher to attending cardiologist. Never once have I filled out a job or school application where a friend would have been accepted as a reference.

In addition to this, it is extremely unlikely I would be in any position where anything I've said online would haunt me.
People have opinions and I have posted some of mine online. I don't see what's the big deal.

It's only true in his mind. If I wanted to be a courier for some company and had my own vehicle they would not give a damn about my online reputation.
