Whats hoka one one
Yes. This is correct.
Great move from Hoka.
I quite liked the O-nay O-nay. So someone else, say Kilian, is free to start a new company and name it One One?
Good. Nobody can pronounce Onay Oneigh.
So how does hoka make their shoes?
Take a pegasus foot mould and spray it with 3" of flex seal?
I like Sage's old videos when he would refer to it as Hoka 1 1
seriously? it's not pronounced 1, 1 but actually o-nay, o-nay?
huh... TIL...

The only people I have ever heard say “1,1” are the red necks around me who do it to be racist against Polynesian people. So I guess you just exposed yourself as one of them.
A couple hints:
Nike is not pronounced like “bike” with an N.
adidas is not pronounced like /uh-DEE-dis/

Nobody dislikes Polynesians. They are awesome.
But we do dislike people like you who look for racist monsters under the bed. .
Nico interchanges "one, one" with "onay, onay"... great move, no one cared about that part of the name. It's HOKA.
HOKA always reminds me of Instagram. The founder sold sooo early, he made a couple million, but could have made hundreds of millions if he just kept going. However, probably needed the buy-out to scale and become the brand it is today.

Of all things to accuse someone of being racist for, this is certainly a very random one...
Why would saying, "1, 1" be racist against Polynesians? Is it because "o-nay, o-nay" is of Polynesian origin (if so, i certainly do not know this) and the assumption is that I use "1, 1" in order to not acknowledge Polynesian culture?
Certainly you must be trolling?

I think at one time some years back they switched to "1, 1" but then quickly switched back. Everyone just said "Hoka" anyway.

What are you talking about? One co-founder made $400 million. The other made $100 million.

Everyone has known it was o-nay o-nay for the last ten years. I have run in cities all over the country with hundreds of different people, and the only ones I have ever heard say “1,1” were people who were purposely trying to mock the real name.
It erases the heritage of the name, and I think that’s pretty messed up.
Then again, you probably lost your mind when the Washington Redskins changed their name.

I believe at one time -- it may have been when Deckers purchased the brand, there was a push to pronounce it "1 .1".
I didn't know Nike was prounced Nike-EE until after Michael Jordan came to be face of the brand. I started running and wearing Nike in the early 80s.
Americans can pronounce adidas any way they want.
https://vimeo.com/26689748I still call Asics, "Tigers".
Whatever. We all know the real name of these shoes: Thicc Bois

You're nuts to think "onay onay" was commonly known or that there was any heritage to it! I certainly didn't, and I have used Hoka trail shoes since 2014 or so. I only ever saw them advertised online, bought them online, and I don't race. How would I have ever known the history of the name or brand? In fact I even forgot they were called Hoke One One because you only ever see it referred to as Hoka online.

Seriously. Odds that this guy has ever heard a redneck intentionally mispronounce the full name of a niche running shoe brand in order to be racist against Polynesians = 0.

Adidas executives from Europe tell Americans that they can pronounce it anyway they want as long as they buy their shoes and apparel.
