Imagine that?!
Doing away with standards will lead to unqualified "people" in jobs and places that they have no business being in?
Well, at least we ain't racist.

It's 2021 - knuckle-draggers don't believe in scientific expertise of doctors anymore anyway. They already claim they are unqualified.
Standards have to be lowered for the doctors from India and Pakistan. Standards in public schools have been going down for years.

AMA historically fights anything that would increase the supply of doctors because then you wouldn't make 300k doing what PAs consistently do just as well.
(They had ONE instance of saying the opposite thing, halfheartedly, once.)

Huh? Not true in the least. I am an RN thaa a g has worked in the CVICU the last 10 years in LA as well as Denver, and can assure you that there is a VAST chasm between PA and MD quality- both in procedure skills as well as actual knowledge.

Well at least we know that nurses can’t spell
Medicine standards should be high but please recognize that the majority of medical care provided in the US is not based on clinical evidence.
Yes, this is bad.
What is worse is the explosion of online nurse practitioner schools. These nurse practitioners are commonly misidentified as doctors and provide independent (and sub-par) care to patients.
Both need to be fixed, but I'd argue that the NP fiasco is more pressing.

You’re not wrong. Fat thumbs to boot.

Lol - PAs do not do the same things as doctors do "just as well".

Put your personal bias aside. They have statistical studies on this stuff.
Classic nurse move smh my head

Evidence please. You claim a difference, so it's on you to prove it. Let's see it, Doc.
On Jan. 20, the nation’s largest insurer, UnitedHealth Group, reported its full-year 2020 profit of $15.4 billion.
From 2000 to 2018, 35 large pharmaceutical companies reported cumulative revenue of $11.5 trillion, gross profit of $8.6 trillion
meanwhile insurance costs go up, care goes down....
With most pharmaceutical companies you get a salary and you also get paid commission on your drugs that you sell. So, if you sell 160 percent of one product, you get paid on 60 percent over that quota. The more you sell the more you make, so the harder you work, the more money you make.

Go spend ALOT of time with each. Code a patient at 2 am with each. Do open heart compressions with each. Heck, look at how they even put in central lines.
I definitely don’t want a PA doing anything on me unless I’m on a desert island or in some far flung reaches of kansas farm country.
At that, PA’s like to pretend their surgeons/doctors when they most certainly are not. It’s embarrassing sometimes.
I don’t know what you mean about “classic nurse move”, but chances are I’ve spent much more time than most with both at 4 major level 1 trauma centers and 1 heart hospital in 2 major metropolitan areas. I’d like to think I’ve got a pretty good handle on the subject better.
You’re welcome to quote your statistics and opt for a PA when your grandfather needs to have his fresh chest opened with manual cardiac massage post op, however.
Think interns are clueless? Work with PA’s.

Which ones, the ones that frequent Fox News or the ones that frequent CNN?

The vast majority of my and my colleagues work could be done by PAs. We just have nice racket going with the licensing/med school system to keep costs and salaries high.
Anyone that says otherwise is to bought-in to turn around.
I always laugh when people point to Pharma as to why US healthcare is so expensive.
Look dude you just doubled down. They have systematic reviews showing no statistically significant differences in outcomes.
You have...personal anecdotes. Again.
Classic nurse move.
