5:19 pace on a hilly course in great conditions. I love that he comes home and races a trot. He’s a man of the people. Pros need to do more of this.
What is this pace for a 1:44/4:00 runner? Must be harder than tempo?

I would like to see I. Harris race elite indoor time(s) this winter in either 600m or 1000m, sub-74 or sub-2:17

Got to be 600m right? He's a big guy.
pretty sure he's a sub-4 guy tho also, so 1000m probably isn't to out there

5:19 per mile is 5:19 per mile regardless of his 800 PR is 1:44 or 1:54.
21.82
1:44.42
3:58.30
21.18
D@MN!!
Props to the guy for earning his own way even with his mom being the VP. Not a fan of her politics, but credit where due, she raised quite a son.
He's run some solid 5Ks in the past too. Good overall runner, would love to see him stay healthy because he can definitely break 1:43 one day in my view.

To be clear, the trot was a FOUR miler, not 5k. Pretty solid.
Not incorrect.

He was a multi-event state champ in Maine in high school, already showing this great range.
Good to know I could beat him in my mid 40s at 4M, but no distance below that, for sure. He has excellent speed. I hope he makes a bunch of American teams. Maybe a chance of coaching and running partners would get him to that next level, the 1:42s and 1:43s.
From Penn State's page for him:
"High School PRs ||200: 21.82, 400: 46.8, 800: 1:49.63, 1,600: 4:18.92 || High School ||Holds the Maine all-time best in the 200-meter dash and the 800-meter run ... Two-time New England champion in the 800-meter run ... Three-time state champion in the 800-meter run ... Two-time state champion in the 200-meter dash ... 2015 state champion in the 1,600-meter run ... Finished runner-up at the 2014 state cross country meet ... Holds six school records ... Six-time letter winner ... Track team captain ... Cross country team captain ... Six-time team MVP."
I think it's really cool that he ran this and his range is really impressive.
this is the first time a post on here has made me crack a smile

1:09:39 half marathon pace. 16:31 5k pace.
It is great to see pros doing this, but this is not very fast for a pro runner of his pedigree.
I remember Will Leer running in a Christmas relay in San Francisco and he ran under 21 minutes for his 4.5 mile leg and being impressed with a pro putting it out there for a fun race. Then realizing a few years later that was slower than world record marathon pace...
He would have trouble making my high school varsity team and would not be allowed to practice on my college team.
Im sure this wasnt all out. Closer to his tempo pace lol. Who knows what his shape is as well.

Yeah, why are people impressed?? He's a 3:58 miler! Geez. Hopefully jogged it.
I remember running 45 seconds faster at some rinky-dink no competition 4 Miller when I was an absolute nobody [ I mean I was a pretty good high school Runner but by this point I was just doing 25 miles a week and some cross training. Jumping in some local races and a couple tri's. And the longer the race the were worse i got i.e. much better at 800/1500 than 5k or 5 miles].
But he's a great runner. Wish him luck.
im sure you boys were all running 21 second 200m too
