The AR should also be moved down as well. Rupp could've done it, but he didn't think it was important enough until it was too late. Mantz recognizes the importance of the half marathon in today's running world and how being the American record holder would boost his marketability for years to come.
The Half WR has went down way more than 50 seconds since Hall's 59:43 ... it was 58:55 by Geb. Hall's run was Jan 14 2007 and Geb set the record in Jan 2006. Of course Wanjiru broke it just a month or two after Hall ran his race. So really the half WR has went down by 2:12 since Hall ran his AR.
