I guess something is better than nothing.
Interesting how they promote it as watch the race live and then it’s just a finish line cam from 100 yards away - unless I’m mistaken.

The quality of the stream is absolutely terrible.

I turned it off. It was worse than no feed at all.

Same.
same, worst streaming coverage in some time
I figured the stream must have been free. Nope. It's behind the paywall.
I'll be happy next year to pay a hSer $100 to stand at the finish line and stream it for free on their phone if the state will let me. Did they pay the statea for the rights?
I believe nfhs network has the rights to live stream
There's facebook live and a dozen other ways people can live stream the event. As long as you don't charge people to watch it - go ahead and live stream from a dozen spots on the course

I thought about live streaming, but I practiced at the park with Instagram Live and the connection quality is pretty low-even on a day with no one around. With all the people there, your texts barely go through... so Live Streaming using cellular data seemed impossible. Also, when you have multiple people sharing video on a stream, the quality is even worse (at least it was at Woodward when I tried it)...so having multiple people at different locations didn't work. You need your own good Wifi for a HD stream (which I don't know how to obtain).
Getting the actual video is pretty easy though. I got somewhat decent coverage for 6 of the 10 races, just running around with my phone. If someone explained to my old soul how I get portable, reliable wifi without expensive equipment, I would try to live stream all 10 races in the coming years for free. It would still be very, very amateur, and basically look like the video below, but it'd be something, possibly better than nothing.
