2022 World Athletics Marathon Championships Team USA selection list before NY Marathon
The 2022 World Athletics Marathon Championships are scheduled to be held in Eugene, Oregon on July 17-18, 2022. Team sizes, eligibility criteria, and selection procedures are as follows:
Selection Event(s) – Selection to Team USATF for the 2022 World Athletics Marathon Championships (hereinafter referred to as the “Championships”) will be based on results from certain competitions between November 30, 2020 and May 29, 2022, as further described below.
Events Being Contested
• Women’s Team: Marathon (3 athletes)
• Men’s Team: Marathon (3 athletes)

The following procedures will be used to select athletes to the Team:
1. One team position, per gender, will be selected based on the rank order finish from among the
top ten (10) finishers at the 2020 Olympic Games Marathon.

Eligible athletes who qualify via the above procedures in paragraphs 1 and 2 must communicate in writing their intention to accept their position on Team USA for the Championships at their earliest convenience, but not later than 5:00 pm ET on January 6, 2022. Athletes must commit to a position on the Team by 5:00 pm Eastern on June 6, 2022 (“Commitment Deadline”), by completing team processing paperwork (including a signed USATF Athlete Statement of Conditions) or they will forfeit their place on the Team.
