Shouldn't Joy Reid's hateful homophobic rants be worthy of being cancelled?

Nice try.
She is a liberal "journalist". She is exempt.
Jon Gruden was not canceled. He failed to stand up for himself.
The hinge for this whole thing was the "racist" email that he claims had no racial connotation. A lot of people came to his defense saying they had never seen anything that they felt was racist or discriminatory towards him.
Otherwise, he got fired because of private emails that are a decade old, which were probably no different from emails of dozens of other NFL coaches. Oh my God, an NFL coach used the P-word or made a gay slur years ago, what a shocker. How dare he not realize how badly this would look to woke 2020's America.
What he should have done is said he was not proud of those things, but there was a different standard at the time, he's sorry but he was going to keep on coaching. Do not give in to the mob, it never ends well. This all would have been forgotten in a week or two. Everyone knows that most males over 30 in America have at some point made some statement or written something that would be considered homophobic today. Stop judging everyone's past actions by the standards of today.
Cancel culture mob is randomly triggered and there are specific things they like to go after. They don't go after losers. They go after people perceived to be highly valued so the mob can feel better about themselves by bringing them down to or under their level in some form. For example, they won't go after a person who is a lifelong criminal or a person with no accomplishments or value but theyll attack a highly successful person or group for any little slip up they have.
It’s funny that you think he resigned of his own volition. If he would’ve attempted to keep coaching, he would’ve been fired.

Tell me Steve, how can someone be forced out of a position they don’t hold?
I swear, you post a lot but never make points.
Joy Reid should be cancelled for selling out the black community to centrist corporate Dems.

You must be relieved that you'll never be cancelled then.

Why does everyone keep saying these emails were a decade old when they went up through 2018 when Bruce Allen left the team. And does anyone really believe they stopped then because Gruden had a change of heart? But once Allen left the team his emails were not part of the WFT team investigation.
I have no doubt that if Gruden did not resign there were more emails out there to be leaked. He knew the writing was on the wall and the NFL wanted him out so he just ended it quickly.
Gruden resigned. I did not see security from Las Vegas Raiders or security from corporate N.F.L. carrying Gruden out kicking & screaming. Reid obviously told MSNBC/NBC/Comcast, "Don't even think about it. I'm not resigning!".
That's the difference. Gruden quit.
It never ceases to amaze me the kinds of things people put in writing.... often seemingly otherwise intelligent people ( I don't put Gruden in that category).
Reid is a serial hate machine.

I feel for people like Steve. Bless his heart.

Yeah, I hate the double standard with some celebs.

I'm guilty if this.
Except it has been 20 years since I've been guilty of this, and I was a freshman in high school. Sophomore year I realized that behavior was unacceptable.
Gruden deserved to be fired. I was willing to give him the benefit of the doubt when it was just the one email about a guy having large lips. Ok, maaaaybe he wasn't being racist, I was willing to accept that as possible.
But then multiple emails with similar behavior appeared, so I dont believe him anymore.
These weren't "private" emails. These were his professional emails. I believe that Gruden, who was almost 50 at the time of the emails, should be expected to act in his professional life as well as I could in my private life at 15.
