Eilish in 67.xx?! Can’t wait to see what she can do at the full marathon distance next year…
5K-10K runners > M runners at HM without specific preparation. Do carbon plates make the transition easier?
Looks like the women may have been way strung out. Lots of solo efforts out there? Hoping to catch a replay sometime later today after Cherry Blossom & 5TH Ave. Mile.
Very tough course this year (one off due to covid).
Rupp's third place was good - look forward to Chicago.
Course is no tougher. The highest point of the original course is just after 5 miles, the new course misses out all the climbing there was between 8 and 12 on the old course.
A runner who I recruited to Cornell ran it for the 1st time today. He said it was a "very hilly "course. That is true as it's always normally hilly. What makes the times often fast is that in a normal year the thing is run downwind.
Here is normal elevation map.

Haven't seen this years elevation.
It's normally a hilly course, it vnormally has a crosswind'.... A lot of the decent in the original course omes in the short sharp drop at 12 miles which isn't helpful. You do get fast days with a followng wind but I don't think it's ever been an easy course.

I think Great North has always been won pretty regularly by track runners capping off their seasons?
They look kind of lame for pro athletes
Rupp was wincing near the end, possible hip problem. he didn't look 1 bit comfortable. Siedel was out of the race early on.

I’m also interested to see what she can do in the full mile and the full 10k.
How do you get hip problems from wincing? People always seem to want to diagnose injuries, especially Rupp, from facial expressions or body language. Lots of speculation after Peach Tree, too. Maybe he was tired from the effort?
Remember a couple years ago when there were so many people on this forum convinced Rupp was a 2:04 marathoner? Come on guys, hit me with that gymnast mental math! Tell me about how today indicated an AR in Chicago!
Is king ches going debut at NYC or something?

And hocker was only a 3:35 guy, right?

Most unsurprising quote in the history of the universe.
Anyone have deeper results? Why do races no longer publish complete results, particularly one of this stature? Is it because they don't want John Doe who is bragging about running a half marathon to know he finished 7,000th of 8,000?
But is a top 25 leaderboard too much to ask?
Anyways, race organizers sent me elite results but they are next to impossible to read as the font is too small. See the PDF for full elite results but I've typed up the top 25.

Good win for Scott, the best result of his career. Very good debut for McColgan, only below Radcliffe and her mum on the UK all-time list. Seidel looked fried, I'm still surprised she is doing New York. Rupp hit his level, he's a 60:30 guy now and 61 on that course is about where he should be.
