He's a 3:57 miler. I am shocked that the competition is so stiff that there is a possibility anyone can beat him, let alone three people. For the people in his category, what are the parameters? What kind of diagnosis do they need to have?

For Mikey's classification (T 20) - "To become eligible to compete in the Paralympic Games, all athletes with an Intellectual Disability have to reach the primary eligibility criteria, which is determined by:
An IQ score at or below 75 (when IQ 100 is the score of the average person)
Significant limitations in adaptive behaviour (conceptual, social or practical adaptive skills such as communication, self care, social skills, home living, health and safety difficulties)
Onset acquired before the age of 18[1]
Good for him for going for it. IMO the long drive for the finish is the sexiest move in track.
I thought the same thing.I actually thought he could compete at 5,000 meters for the U.S with proper training. Now I don't know. I think he needs different coaching
