You can't use this arguement using this logic soufiane is on a decline because his Personal best was in 2018 I think it will be a good race but I think a third party could sneak the win like someone else said
Personally, I was big fan of Barega two years ago. I remember following the way he missed the gold at Doha in 2019. I know also that he ranked 5 in the IAAF world championship 2017 5000m and this at the age 16 or 17 (?).
(Good morning the age doubters)
Everything about him showed the first steps a young prodigy.
But the fact is that he started tp drop beginning 2020. He lost a lot of races, never repeated again his 12:45 of 2018.
El Bakkali is injured from his last race. That's another fact to add. Usually El Bakkali do 2 to 3 good 3000m SC races by season and later get problems. He seems like a runner that can be affected by fatigue or recuperation.
So my pronostic for this 3000m go for the young U20 Ethiopian champion. If Barega win he would have recovered some of his top form.
