What happened? He was ahead and didn't see a clear mistake.
Actually had a great lean at the finish that saved silver
Sloppy over the last two hurdles. Lost balance it looked like. He floated over them and lost momentum rather than stomping down and propelling forward

It was obvious Hollaway wasn't going to win. The only reason he won gold at Worlds in 2019 was because McLeod of Jamaica took out Ortega of Spain. I have said this time after time after time. Hollaway does not maintain the speed from 60M on. You saw this in the elimination and semifinal rounds. You saw this earlier this year when Ortega beat him every time.
The women just weren’t very good. The men choked.
Holloway makes no sense. For a tall guy he’s actually a great starter but weak finisher? I know he’s young but big choke job by most of America’s sprinters.
Only ones that met expectations were Kenny B and Knighton. The other over hyped guys all choked. Christ, for one thing why the heck is Gillespie running anchor, but what is Ronny Baker doing? lol It was pathetic.
Obviously Rai lived up to expectations as well. As well as Syd and Muhammad.
Unless Norman comes out tonight and looks completely different than he’s looked all year then he’ll honestly be a disappointment as well. But the mental health!!! Lol.
Can’t wait to watch the 4x400s

His form was fine, start was good, just seemed slow between the hurdles.
He didn't even hit a hurdle this its just a choke he completely ran out of energy
I thought he was beginning to crowd hurdles and had to start chopping steps causing his rhythm to go to crap and his touchdown off the final hurdle was horrible and killed all momentum to the line.
In TEARS.
Honestly he didn't seem too devastated. Got too close and high late in the race. Still, I expected him to hold on. He was classy in defeat.

Reminded me of the Gatlin fail vs Bolt in 2015, just got tight
Yes, that's what it looked like to me too. Hollaway usually looks very relaxed when he runs but today he looked very tight.

Kerley did well though.
Grant is a great example of handling a loss with class, particularly in a case where he was the overwhelming favorite. Gave his competitor all the credit and holding his head high knowing this doesn't diminish him as a person or the rest of his accomplishments.
I feel like Grant is always chopping his strides, especially the last half.

US just can't seem to get a gold in the mens events
This kid is a good sport, give him a break.
110 Hurdles is probably the toughest of all the sprinting events for a favorite to win.
Look at Devers all those years, if you make even one small mistake you're done, no margin for error.
It looked like on one of the early/mid hurdles he took off from too far away and his rhythm and momentum got thrown off.

A man that tall and fast cannot just sprint all out like many others can. If he does he gets progressively closer to hurdles until there is not enough room to get his leg up in front of him. That is what happened to Devers in '92. She got closer to each hurdle until there was not enough room to get her foot/leg up on hurdle 10.
It looked to me like Holloway was running so fast that he had to start chopping steps and once rhythm is affected it gets progressively worse with each hurdle.
How in the realm of possibility? He was the one sure bet.
Holloway was smiling moments after the race. If somebody was devastated, it wasn't him.
IDK, it feels like something is going on mentally. Not taking away, from anything legit, but our whole team seems off. Rough COVID year, a recognizing has carried to our whole team with Biles, and political division in our country. Not taking sides, but something is just OFF with our whole team. IDK.
Gutted for Devon Allen. He was 5th in 2016 and 4th here. He ran faster times each time through the rounds including the finals just couldn’t get it done to medal.
