Black page on lets run. Not a mention on espn’s homepage, but they do have lots of off season NBA news.

Duh.
7:20 is still lurking doe lest we forget
Yeah this is Mount Rushmore but you are right - 7.20.67 is still the WR right?
The only reason I am more partial to the 3000m time is this - it is SO far ahead of anyone else and those "anyone elses" are the greatest athletes in the history of distance running across eras. Bekele, Geb, Hichem all went for this and were not even close. Hichem ran 3.43.1 and 12.50 and was 2.42 seconds back. Bekele was a 12.37 guy - not even close.
Benjamin being only 0.23 behind doesn't diminish it but doesn't give it the same mythical aura as Komen who is still so far ahead it defies belief.
But in terms of a race - Olympic final, the quality of performance at all finishing positions - I mean it supersedes the 800m from London considerably.
Two big bummers though - it happened in front of like 2000 people and it was run at 12.20pm - WHAT THE F--K?!?!? Imagine if they had run this at 9.20pm when it should have been run - 45.70? My lord.

For context, his split at 200 meters was just around 20.4. His 300 meter split was 31.8 (as fast as Lyles' indoor 300m record). Disgusting.
Hate to be that guy but we can’t ignore the fact that 400h does not draw the same level of talent as other events because it has a sister event, the 400m, that is way more prestigious. Whichever human being is physiologically best suited for 400 hurdles is definitely racing the flat 400m. If the 400m didn’t exist and every athlete that competed in it instead trained their whole life for 400 hurdles, then Warholms time not only wouldn’t be a huge outlier, it likely wouldn’t even be a record at all.

He literally ran 300 meters over hurdles as fast as the 300 meter indoor world record (held by Noah Lyles who is one of the fastest 200 meter runners of all time), this would absolutely be the world record even if Grant Holloway decided to dedicate himself to the event

That doesn't seem right. He went through 200 meters in 20.4? So he ran 20.4 then 25.54 for the second 200 meters? He slowed down that much?

Lost in the shuffle is Samba's 47.12 would have won every previous Olympics except Kevin Young's WR in Barcelona in 1992, he got 5th today.
This race was better than the London 800m.
Similar to how in 2012 Nick Symmonds ran a 1:42.9, which would win the 800 every other Olympic year but was also only good for fifth that year.
You’re in the wrong thread buddy. The Warholm=Doper thread is down the hall.

Yes, they ran a 14 second last 100. Makes a lot of sense if you've ever tried to sprint 300 meters all out - running another 100 meters is brutal

I admit it is stunningly fast, but the way you calculate these splits is by observing their entry and exit times through the exchange zone at each turn. It is not actually as far-fetched as it seems given how unbelievable Warholm is over the first five hurdles. They might as well not be there for him.

It seems Warholm is capable of maybe 19.3 in the 200.

He absolutely can run in the mid 19s, yes. It is possible my 200 estimate is off but based on the average of his entry and exit through the 4x100 exchange zone there is no question that it was under 21 seconds

Okay, so, I was wrong about the splits. Used the wrong line to determine when he left the exchange zone. My apologies!
