Society handing out a medal to everyone has reached a new peak (or low) depending on how you view it.
I think they just gave out two gold medals. Anyone watching on tv able to confirm?

I guess they did it because they want to dim the lights for the 100 final.
Yep, that's what they did... Has it ever happened before?
Official asked them to jumpoff and both declined. Only outcome would be one loses gold. As a fan, I thought it was a perfect ending to best HJ I've seen.
Yes they did. The athletes were given the choice of a jump off or sharing the gold. The athletes chose to share the gold.
Who cares it was an awesome moment and making them do a jump off for a height they clearly weren't going to clear which means it's untill someone clears a lesser height is just not very fun anyways. Beautiful moment for two super deserving men. Really good moment for the sport.

It was. But this shows the rule should be changed. Either jumpoff or both get only silver. Otherwise there is not good incentive to risk a jumpoff.
BARSHIM is a class act. Most likely he would have won the jump offbut he chose to share gold.
I think making the jump-off optional is a recent(ish) change to rules. I don't particularly like the new one, but the old one also had its problems as sometimes two people who didn't want to keep on jumping were forced to continue.
Why would you ever choose to have a jump off if your Gold is guaranteed if you don’t?
Exactly, it would be stupid to do a jump off and risk losing the gold. It's not like high school or college where you are trying to earn points for your team.

I'm not completely convinced. The choice of the shared gold was offered, and Tamberi screamed and started celebrating while Barshim watched on. Nothing was left but for him to cheer himself and implicitly accept the decision.
There were 3 Bronzes given in 2012 and 1992.
Multiple Silvers have been given as well.
I know I have seen two Golds given before some where.

Would it? Would you accept a gold if they gave them out to eight tied jumpers? A gold is just the symbol for being the best in the world. The symbol got confused for the achievement.

+1
Beautiful moment.

This is surely Rojo’s most boomer take ever right?

It's happened many times in timed events, but I've never seen happen it in the absence of technical limitations. It's also a very different situation in the case of silvers and bronzes. The best is the best.

Wrong.
You could clearly hear Barshim ask if they could both have gold and the official said they could.
Are you seriously suggesting FORCING athletes to risk injury by continuing? If so, that is absolutely asinine.
