I'm a Democrat and fairly liberal but I think this article is 100% correct. Cases are not a worry in and of itself. Zero COVID is not a realistic scenario. I am OK with the CDC making recommendations as it stands right now and I'm OK with corporations creating rules around vaccinations that make it very advisable. I do NOT have any appetite for unnecessary lockdowns or restrictions. Mask mandates in areas where hospitalizations are not a real problem don't make sense to me. At some point the unvaxxed population will have to live with their choices and everyone else doesn't have to bend over backwards in what will probably be futile aways to keep them from getting sick. I understand there is the concern about breakthrough cases and spread through that. I would just advise everyone who is vaxxed and worried about it to be vigilant and if you are around someone who is immuno-compromised or old just act like you aren't vaxxed. We don't need a gazillion rules for people to return to being cautious in applicable situations.
