This is an unmitigated disaster. I don't doubt she is a fine coach but come on, this reeks of co-dependence. I really hope Drew finds some success.

I think the most damning thing is that they couldn't find a legit coach. There are hundreds of great coaches out there but every coach they talked to left the conversation thinking "wow these kids are demented."
They couldn't pull an old coach out of retirement like Gags or Centrowitz. They couldn't land a top tier college coach like Mike Smith or Wetmore who always coach athletes on the side. They couldn't get a recently retired pro to coach them (like ON did with Ritz). They couldn't even get a well-respected college assistant to leave and be a pro coach, they could only get a failure like Cory Leslie.
I think that speaks volumes about how screwed up these athletes are. Coaches are avoiding them like the plague.
care to provide any evidence that she wasnt their first choice?

Um, they fired tinman 6 months ago. If she was their first choice, they would have announced it immediately.
Everything about this group is pathetic. They are keeping their name as the name of the coach they fired. They are coached by one of their moms. Their youtube videos are really lame and awkward. And most pathetic of all - their dismal results.
Your logic is flawed. My first choice for a wife is a coworker who I know well. Does that mean if I leave my wife tomorrow, I can immediately announce that my coworker is her replacement? I think that I would have to wine and dine her for a while and then probably still be unsuccessful. Don't assume that Drew called his mother and she didn't think long and hard about the pros and cons before accepting.
And don't assume that Drew's mom wasn't the one who made the first call, suggesting they replace Tom with her. This group has completely lost my support. Go Team Boss, NB Boston, whoever Gags, Wetmore, and Ritz are coaching!
You are the one making assumptions. Why lose your support when you don't know what happened?
I know precisely what happened. Please tell me something positive about how these people treated Tom and his family. I'd love to learn about this.

So, to sum up:
1. You are the creepy office guy who has been counseled multiple times by HR.
2. Drew called his mommie to fix it for him.

how do you someone is yiur first choice til you interview other canidates? Maybe thr plan was for an interim coach through the trials and then look for someone different but things went well enough that theu decided not to switch? I just wanted to hear any evidence that people turned them down. that just seems to be a made up fantasy.
i cant image these being a very appealing job. Not like it has a mid 6 figure salary and a big recruitment budget
Yeah it went so well that Drew Hunter was injured for the Olympic Trials and only ONE member of the team even qualified. All of their guys routinely got demolished by no-name college runners.
Tinmom Elite is a pretty good name. But Hunter's as good a coach as you'll find. You have to admire any coach who puts into practice a training philosophy that takes non-runners to national levels within three years, not just polishing the best ex-collegians.
To the comment re: whether she was their first choice, I don’t care to go look it up and copy/paste but I recall weeks (if not 1+ month ago) when all this broke they either released an announcement or posted on their IG story that she was advising them for training etc training in the gap period of no formal head coach.
To me, the timing makes it seem she was the replacement choice from the start but they wanted and/or needed to buy enough time so it wasn’t “Tom is out, Hunter is in”. Instead it was “Yes, Tom was quietly let out a few weeks ago but Hunter is helping until a new coach is found… *weeks pass*… we’d like to announce Hunter is the new head coach.”
Letsrun douchbags wouldn't be happy even if Tinman hired Stacy's mom.

If they honestly think Drew's mom is the best coach out there then they have brain damage.
However, it is widely known in the coaching world that they were shopping around for coaches. No self-respecting coach is going to work with the group under the tinman name. They killed their shot at getting a real coach.
I think she’s done a solid job at LV and wouldn’t personally disparage her coaching abilities. That is a valid observation though as I guess that is a very real possibility (ie they were looking for another head coach, nobody took it, so they settled in with her at the helm for some stability).

Tinman is Tom Schwartz; fire him, but keep (steal) his nickname; use his training paradigm; replacing him with a woman he mentored for years… lol lol. An over the hill milf coach with massive ego, playing den mother.. lol. Tom might’ve been pushed out, maybe disliked, probably way under paid … but he delivered to those brats … everyone of them ran their lifetime bests under his guidance. Deep in Sam Parsons’ (get rid of him ASAP) mind he knows it …he knows he ruined Drew Hunter’s running career. Good luck mommy; if you get jammed up.. I’m sure Tom’s cell number is in your contacts, he’s forgotten more than you’ll ever know. Cookies and milk after tempo Tuesday..?!

Come on, like the Kranick's who have done it at the highest level for 40 years? Like Hunter developed the Affolder's? Be honest, LV was an OK program then the transfers all came and for a 5-6 year span they were a great team, that's it. You give way too much credit.
What happened to Cory Leslie or was he actually coaching this Olympic year producing one Trials qualifier in Barazza?
The team needs new members with more upside. Is Joan Hunter going to attract them? Maybe. Perhaps a more high profile coach might be better in that regards but I suspect most established coaches want no part of the group and Addidas doesn’t want to pay for one. Her HS teams responded well to her. I’d say give her a chance. Team needs fresh talent. That’s the biggest problem.
