Are the Asics super spikes the best out there right now?
Mohamed Katir has run 3:28 and 12:50 in them.
Eilish Mccolgan ran a British 5000m record in them too..

I think so. They look amazing. Super comfy too.

Whatever happened to the “must be available to all” rule?

Now Katir has also run 7:27 WTF! It's the spikess!!
They are selling them in Japan (for now) at $250 eq a pair.... Basically it seems they are as comfy as a flat but with a phenomenal grip due to all those micro carbon fibre lugs

Asics Metadistance D0
supposed to come out in the winter of 2022 according the WA shoe pdf...
I’ve heard that Running Warehouse may carry them in spring 2022…
I checked the Asics Japan website and didn’t see them listed… guess we just have to wait.
This guy has a short review
Is anyone but Katir wearing these? Are these the same shoes Hall is has been wearing?
Elish Mc Colgan for sure. These spikes are a variant of the road flats which i think Hall is wearing.

I believe the post is sarcastic, or it should be, because spikes are mostly the same and none are way faster than any others. If you think one spike will make you run way faster than another you're not very smart.

Thanks! I found them on the Japan Asics site, but sold out it appears . The outsole reminds me of the Puma “brush spike” that was banned. Lots of little spikes…
I was thinking the same, I contacted my countries ASICS company and they said the shoes would not become available to the public at all.

How is this any different than the Puma needle spike of 1968 that was banned?
https://www.si.com/track-and-field/2019/11/15/puma-shoe-upended-1968-olympicsNo, the ASICS spikes are not nearly the best there is right now. One athlete has used them set world-class times in both the 1500 and 5000. However, Nike's ZoomX Dragonfly and Air Zoom Victory, plus Adidas' adizero Avanti, have all been used for times just as good, if not faster. The New Balance FuelCell MD-X and LD-X appear to be comparable to the Dragonfly and Avanti. The ASICS Metaspeed LD is set to retail at $250. This is $70 more than the Victory and $100 more than the Dragonfly and Avanti, all of which have just as good a balance of cushioning and aggressiveness.
Here's the real kicker though: the Metaspeed LD doesn't even work on all tracks. Some tracks are firmer and some are softer. The Metaspeed LD is exclusively functional on the softer tracks. It is so unusable on firm tracks that ASICS allowed Katir himself, as well as other ASICS athletes, to use Nike spikes in a recent race on a firmer material track.
So no, a spike that fails to outclass any of its cousin spikes yet outprices them and isn't even functional on all tracks is not the best there is. Not by a long shot.
