Is a middle school record meaningful? Isn't it just kind of a sign of who hit puberty first or who was held back a grade?
Anyway, Josiah Tostenson, representing Scenic Middle School in Oregon, ran a national middle school record of 4:23.98 at The Outdoor Nationals.
Maybe a better way to think of this is, does anyone know if the old record holder ever did anything?
The old mark of 4:24 had stood since 1974 was and held by David O'Conor of Montgomery, New York.
My googling reveals he was a NY sate indoor champ at 2 milesand an All-Southwest Conference runner at Houston.
