The commentators have been conveniently ignoring the Shelby Houlihan scenario... funny that both Elise Cranny and Courtney Frerichs said they were running for her, feel for her, etc.

I was a Jager fan boy. Long before that Tegenkamp fanboy. I'm in love with most of the Bowerman babes.
But it just got to be too much. Too good to be true.
The ship is sinking, and I'm sad. It was a beautiful boat, but down it goes.
For years, one of the prevailing notions as to why Americans couldn't keep up with East Africans was because we didn't train in high level groups. Then the groups popped up and it started to look good. But it was too good.
ALL of NOP doped. ALL of BTC doped. ALL of the top level foreigners they're competing against doped. Its a sad state.
So why do you watch this sport? By your logic pretty much anyone that makes a trials final is a raging doper.
You're sad.

Emma Coburn. She's clean, and she's good. Probably the best US chance at a medal in the women's distance events.

Because it’s still the best the sport has to offer. Not like there’s a whole lot else to watch. Basically NCAA champs and that’s it if you avoid all dopers.
Even if Shelby is doping, I doubt they know.
They are teammates, they believe her, it’s their choice to mention her in their interview.
I don’t really have a problem with them mentioning it tbh. The broadcast is avoiding it. And if it come out later that she was doping, I’ll barely remember them saying anything.
That’s disgusting. It really is.
What a bunch of nitwits. Houlihan was screwing them over, and they’re too childish to understand that.
At least in Courtney’s case, Emma’s reaction was worth Courtney embarrassing herself and ceding her own accomplishments to someone most viewers at home won’t know.
The BTC athletes not named Shelby Houlihan are the real losers whenever someone does one of these shoutouts on air.

Unless they are doping too.
Anybody but the bowerman babes please.

Was there a hint of an eye roll from Emma when Courtney mentioned Shelby?
After Cranny mentioned Houlihan in the NBC post race interview the commentator uncomfortably said "Umm.. yes and Cranny referring to Shelby Houlihan, her teammate who tested positive for doping..." Not a good look for Cranny when you frame it that way.
Honestly, if someone just said it was a tainted supplement instead of a burrito I could have lived with the whole situation. We all know many runners are taking all sorts of concoctions from illegal to legal or TUEs. Over it.
Now, inside the mind of someone who lives and trains with Shelby. They are in the grey zone, and she gets popped. They want to express their sadness for her. While it looks suspect, I guess I get it. They are all close. Nike may be on their arses to say something. I don’t view it as nefarious as others do. It’s just kind of a sad, this happened to my friend and also maybe some Stockholm syndrome too.
Was there? Does anyone have a link to the post race interview?
What finals are left that BTC women can shill for Houligan?

Yeah, to be fair, NBC had to sign off after the steeple interviews. They definitely put Cranny’s comment into context and it didn’t make Cranny look good on the broadcast. Embarrassing.

I swore I saw the eye roll! But the camera moved and I couldn't tell if I was just imagining it! Hope she did, mom has stage 4 cancer, frerichs is a moron. I know they just ran a race and are tired and excited at the same time. But after hearing emma say that I still think a reasonable person might decide not to shout Shelby.
Also, does Houlihans bar and grill sell burritos? I like their wings.

It doesn't look suspect. She tested positive, there's no getting around it. This burrito thing is nonsense, it's the standard excuse used by dopers that it was by accident.
