We are still trying to find out what happened to this promising athlete who first came to prominence on the world stage when he traded strides on the last lap of Mo Farah’s one hour world record in Brussels in September 2020. After the fall/autumn he got invited to attend and train with a professional Adidas Team in Kapsabet, Kenya, under the direction of an Italian coach and De Madonna Sports. He had been training there for month after month during the winter of 2020 / 2021 and we were expecting great things from this young Swede who turns 21 in July of this year. But it was not to be and he started off the season with a 2925 10,000 m race in Ostrava Czech Republic and in that race he was slated to attack the Swedish record of 2755 by Johnny Danielson but it was not to be.
Since then he has run a couple of other races including a 13:54 5000 m and the latest a 14:09 5000 m.
The young Swede is incredibly strong and can run all day and all night but it just seems that he’s not having it on the track. Hopefully whatever needs to be addressed will be addressed and we will see a resurgence of this young promising Swede at some point in the future, hopefully sooner than later.
On his Instagram account the young sweet stated that he is not returning to his training camp in Kenya. He’s also suffering a slight injury.
The point of this article is to state that you can become incredibly strong and incredibly aerobically fit in Kenya but if you’re not doing the specificity in training it will not show on the track.
