Really!!! Not saying he can’t but here we go more sensationalism storylines to get people to read and comment on your posts. We set up our future stars to fail. I hope he does win gold but come on hopefully he is smart enough to not listen to all the hype and just be the best he can be

Yeah ok. But the Jakob slayer has still arrived.

Centro won gold in 2016
Yeah ok. But the Jakob slayer has still arrived.
-----------
We will see! Hobbs at 18 is still more than 3 seconds behind Jakob at 17. And remember Jakob ran 3:56 in the mile at 16.

His training age is something like 2 years vs. 13 years for Jakob. Also, he just chopped 6 seconds off his 1500 in one race.

Yeah, Jakob has run 3:28. There is a world between 3:28 and 3:34. Many things can happen.
Who s coaching him?

Did we all agree to officially transfer our hopes and dreams from Hocker to Kessler? I’m not sure that’s the correct play. The two of them are merely vying to be the 2nd best American middle distance runner of the next decade. It’s pretty clear neither has the talent of Athing Mu. She’s a world beater right now. We don’t have to wait.

What? 😂
Mu is a 400/800 gal. Hocker and Kessler are 1500/5k guys.
400/800 is middle distance, btw. If she moves up, and she may eventually, she’ll dominate at 1500 too. She will prove to be the talent of the generation. She’s literally embarrassing the rest of the NCAA women. Also, you didn’t answer the first part. Why do you think Kessler is a bigger talent than Hocker? I’ll give the Paris gold to Hocker.

Because Kessler has run a faster 1500 at a younger age than Hocker? Pretty self explanatory.
I also don’t know why you’re comparing a 400/800 female phenom to young male 1500 and maybe 5k runners. I don’t think anyone was saying Mu isn’t the biggest talent in American mid distance running. I just don’t understand the need to bring her into this. Seems a little pretentious imo
Ok, I think of them both as young U20 phenoms and don’t think their age difference means much in evaluating their talent and ability to win global medals in the future. Kessler is amazing, no doubt, but he doesn’t seem to have the closing speed (yet) of Hocker. What Hocker does at the end of every race is phenomenal and probably the best predictor of winning races, not just racking up fast times. Never seen anybody out kick Hocker, not once so far. Ok, Kessler v Hocker over the next decade. Let’s see how it plays out.
