It's because people aren't spreading it by briefly walking down an aisle that someone else just walked down. It's spread from being close to someone for a longer amount of time. So ya, mask mandates going into stores and such is useless because it's not going to spread like that. It's spread by hanging out with someone in a social gathering for a longer amount of time and possibly touching that other person.
The amount of people who have freaked out while I run past them outside amazes me. If you can get covid from someone running past you outside without a mask then how the heck have I not gotten covid? I ran every day, sometiems twice per day, in very busy parks and bike paths, never wearing a mask and passing a ton of people every day also not wearing a mask... That setting is not how it is being spread. So those people need to calm down.
