1) You clearly have a work from home bubble. There are people who have been wearing masks for 8+ hours a day who are sick of them.
2) You have to miss 2 weeks of running for a cold?!? You are the last person that should be wearing a mask then. Get your immune system some exercise man.

No problem. My immune system and general health can take Covid without issue. I also only miss 1 day, max, when I get the common cold. So I guess we're just cut from a different cloth.
Few if any studies indicate that masks do any good . They differ considerably by material and effectiveness --most people do not know how to wear or maintain them correctly. The size of the viruses compared to the pores in most materials is tantamount to trying to stop mosquitos with a chain linked fence. Even Lord Fauci dismissed them before saying we should wear them then wear double masks for protection--what a farce being perpetrated on the American public. Though hand washing actually is effective--it is rarely given much credence.
What a loser. If you really want to flex your mask less powers, try walking into a bank or a govt building.

What about the ~25% of people that already had Covid?
That would mean ~75% are at no or very, very low risk.
Of the remaining ~25% who have not had Covid or vaccine, ~13% are over the age of 65.
So, using this basic estimation, ~3% of the population is "at risk".
Im no math expert, but I do know that Carl Lewis is the GOAT...
"Lewis also long jumped over 28 feet seventy-one times."

Nice add in.
To put that in perspective, only 20 men in history have jumped over 28 feet.
Texas went maskless in early March, even in our schools, and COVID cases have continued to plummet...even more so than many blue states with strict masking rules.

I can think of at least 2 reasons:
1. there are plenty of people who would like to be vaccinated, but can't be. Kids under 12 for example. I recognize that their risk of adverse consequences are much lower than grandma, but nobody wants to deal with a sick 8 year old who has a fever for a week and a half.
2. the more people who catch covid - even mild or asymptomatic cases - the greater the chance of variants developing, some of which will elude vaccines or cause more severe cases.
This is from the CDC web site:
https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/vaccines/fully-vaccinated.html"What We Know
COVID-19 vaccines are effective at preventing COVID-19 disease, especially severe illness and death.
COVID-19 vaccines reduce the risk of people spreading COVID-19.
What We’re Still Learning
How effective the vaccines are against variants of the virus that causes COVID-19. Early data show the vaccines may work against some variants but could be less effective against others.
How well the vaccines protect people with weakened immune systems, including people who take immunosuppressive medications.
How long COVID-19 vaccines can protect people.
"
The vaccine does not absolutely stop people from getting covid, it stops them from getting severe cases. Without vaccine, about 50% of people with covid were asymptomatic. With the vaccine it may be 90%. Who goes and gets a test if they have no symptoms? Yet they might still be spreading. Is it rare? Well, the NY Yankees had 8 people test positive who have been vaccinated, the Padres had 5. These "breakthrough" cases were identified because they are regularly tested, symptomatic or not. That seems like much more than 10% are continuing to get covid after being vaccinated.
I have kids under 12. They cannot get vaccinated. I'll be wearing a mask in all public places until they are vaccinated so I reduce the chances of infecting them and any other person. I'll go maskless outside, with relatives, etc. I won't get in an argument with someone over masks, but I will avoid unmasked people I don't know.
People should use common sense, follow the rules in their area, and try to protect their community including children and the vulnerable. It is the conservative thing to do. But that is just my opinion.
"Some of my friends" is not a compelling data sampling.
my wife and i were vaccinated in late february. we are both in our 70s. as best is known the immunity from vaccination lasts 5-6 months. so in august we will have to worry again. don't tell me to trust cdc and fda. they have proven themselves useless. biden is trying to correct that but exactly how many competent people do you think stayed there for 4 years under trump? people that have not been vaccinated but have had covid ( and the number is huge) have a least 4 weeks of immunity if they were none immune compromised to start with(no one knows). if they are also anti Vaxers they probably will not take precautions. They will likely have rolling bouts of covid as there are too may of them for this country to reach herd immunity. the only protection they have is that many of us will have taken the vaccine so they have less others to infect them. we wear masks unless the business owner will assert everyone we could come in contact with is vaccinated.
i will not get the vaccine, please infect me, i will take the risk, you'll get 3 shots a year and then they'll say sorrrry means nothing you must get 3 more each year cause of new strain, so you will get 3 shots a year for the rest of your life, good job, fking idiots

+1 if you are healthy, natural immunity means vast majority of people not at risk of complications from Covid. Stay healthy. I suspect many people reading this post have had Covid without even knowing it but they have the antibodies. this is life.

Ignoring real life experience and letting the media form your opinions is not necessarily wise

Quite possibly getting negative side effects every time
