This is also not the "latest" whatever way you want to slander it. Fauci's financial fingerprints in this have been known since the beginning, and it is very likely the reason to push himself into the spotlight this past year.; he needed to control the narrative to protect himself.

There's no smoking-gun genomic evidence of engineering (not that there necessarily would be!). The furin site is not as definitive as some want it to be.

The WIV went to places and sampled coronaviruses. It seems most likely (to me) that a worker got infected on a sampling trip and spread it in Wuhan or they somehow picked up a cataloged strain in a lab accident.

These are both bad, but not quite as nefarious as GOF research. I don't see clear evidence the NIH (which I guess we are just calling "Fauci") funded GOF research at the WIV. They did fund sampling efforts, it seems, which isn't great from a safety perspective but more generally acceptable.

Trying to pin this whole thing on Fauci is a stretch and counter productive.

People have to do research on coronaviruses to prevent pandemics. Not funding research is insanely stupid and detrimental from a national security standpoint.

Yep, also I don't care about number of cases. I care about likeliness of another shut-down inducing outbreak. In the US, that likeliness is almost zero. I would actually say it's zero but I don't trust people not to panic even when they shouldn't. What is the vaccination rate in Africa?

You didn't even mention the biggest one in which he led the overturn on federal government funding of GOF research. And that he approved the $4 million dollar research grant a chunk of which went through Eco Health Alliance to the Wuhan labs to study GOF research in bat born Coronaviruses. Yet he has said nothing about the possibility of this research being the potential cause of this pandemic when he should be pressing the US government to get whatever information we can out of China. On top of that him and his friends are pushing for a 6 fold increase in funding for GOF research because it totally makes sense to do more of this dangerous research.

This has been the biggest lost narrative so far in the pandemic. We are doing this extremely dangerous research that honestly could have released a far more dangerous virus, and given the history of lab leaks, this is something we need to be re-evaluating before we cause the next pandemic.

It is not counter productive. It is at the heart of the problem. The reality is that this research was never intended to prevent pandemics, it was a poorly concealed bio-weapons program. China unleashed the bio-weapon and has benefited quite measurably from it. Fauci needs to be investigated and ruined if he was sending money for this type of research to WIV, which he did and he has supported GOF research. The message must be sent that this type of effort will no longer be tolerated by society, no matter how many noble platitudes you apply to it you should be ruined for conducting it.

What does Fauci funding GOF have to do with Trump. If Trump knowingly allowed any GOF to be restarted by Fauci he should be ruined as well. I liked many of Trump's policies, but elitsits funding this sort of effort should not be tolerated.
