Paying people overtime to not have a job doesn’t make sense anymore.

Why are the Democrats still pumping out big unemployment benefits and COVID-cash payments to people after the lockdowns are over and millions of jobs go unfilled?
Because it's the classic Democrat vote-buying scheme. Get people hooked on welfare, then campaign against the Republicans as evil-doers who're going to "take 'your' money away" during the next election cycle. In the meantime, they're duping their own people by flooding the economy with so much cash inflation will essentially take it all back from those they're "helping" and lead to persistent unemployment and a declining economy. You can't just hand out free sh*t without there being a consequence.

Democrats are fully aware of the effects of what they're doing. It's blatantly obvious by now, if you are paying attention, that the World Economic Forum (of which Joe Biden belongs) want to see to the destruction of the current capitalist system in order to enact socialism and overall control of the world for the globalists through their Great Reset Agenda.
https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2020/06/now-is-the-time-for-a-great-reset/The covid-19 (whose design was funded by Anthony Fauci and the NIH) pandemic is the catalyst for this all. It is abundantly clear at this point, just follow the money.
Businesses are struggling to pay appropriate wages. That's all.
But they can just close shop. They don't have to run a business.

Fauci probably did 9/11 too at this rate.
And why the heck are they just now starting child care cash benefits now ($300/kid) as part of Covid relief???
Unemployment bonuses and other cash outlays from the Federal Government have nothing to do with the pandemic and everything to do with control.
Speaking as someone who votes democrat specifically because I really like all the free stuff, I cannot wait for this. Bring on the Great Reset and give me free stuff while I sit around and do nothing at all.
it's complicated, but has a lot to do with kids not in school. A parent, usually the mom, has to stay at home to tend to the child. She can't go get a job until school is 100% in person.
So the Biden Admin has decided that it's in the nation's interest to support these families. Do you think that's wrong?
That's the biggest reason. But sure, there are some layabouts who are fine on unemployment and will wait for benefits to run out before getting a job. No doubt.

Fauci has lost all credibility. He should retire. Andrew Cuomo and Fauci can go away and share stories about how they were regarded as heroes in the early days of COVID-19 until people realized they were both frauds.
"When polls said only about half of all Americans would take a vaccine, I was saying herd immunity would take 70 to 75 percent ... Then, when newer surveys said 60 percent or more would take it, I thought, "I can nudge this up a bit," so I went to 80, 85. We need to have some humility here .... We really don’t know what the real number is. I think the real range is somewhere between 70 to 90 percent. But, I'm not going to say 90 percent." Anthony Fauci, December 2020

But the $300/kid will not end in Aug. 2021 when schools are back open in person. So this tax credit is not COVID related
There are plenty of people that are looking for a job in their field but cannot find one.
Someone working as an administrative assistant isn't going to apply for a dishwashing job.
Taking away their unemployment benefits is not likely to make that apply for that job that doesn't fit for them.
When you say businesses are struggling to find workers, you need to be more specific about what they are looking for.
How much per week is regular unemployment?
How much extra is this enhanced unemployment?
Thanks.
LOL are you talking about the child tax credit that instead of paying it at tax time will be paid monthly? Are you under the assumption this is in addition to the child tax credit that already exists?
1. It ends in Sept. Its not forever.
2. About 20 states already opted out. Be interesting to see if residents of such esteemed places as Mississippi and WV will continue to vote against their own self-interests next election. They probably will given its a long way off. Hillbilly memory is short.
3. Its illegal to keep collecting it if you are offered a suitable job (and decline the job) and you are required to apply for jobs while on UE.
There are plenty of people out there who are ready, able and willing to fill the open jobs right now. The claim that the labor market is super tight is just propaganda. What is really happening is that employers do not want to have to put the time and money into training new hires and are holding out for experienced workers to come back into the labor force. My sister in-law's husband has a restaurant. They are gearing up to resume in person dining and started interviewing waitstaff. It is a high end restaurant and the waitstaff can make really good money on tips. They got about 100+ resumes but less than 10 applicants had any experience waiting tables at a high end restaurant.
In most states, the extra COVID money on top of unemployment does not add up to better money than working, especially if there are benefits. Most states pay only a fraction of your average weekly wage prior to getting terminated. In TX, if you make $40k a year, your unemployment weekly benefit is only $429. When you add the $300, you are still a bit below your normal pay and have to pay out of pocket for health ins.
Bread and Circuses BABY! Who didn't know how ridiculous this was when they passed the bill?
Trump kicked out most of the illegals willing to work for minimum/slave wage. Real Americans do not want those pathetic jobs paying poverty wages. Trumpers rejected a minimum/slave wage hike which have convinced many real Americans to take those jobs.
The solution is obvious. Either allow illegals in, or raise the minimum wage.
Letting people go during work-from-home was easy.
Hiring people during work-from-home is hard. No one has the time to hold their hand, and they just sit around doing ? all day.
We aren’t hiring till we are back in the office and a lot of people are against going back at all, so kind of in a standstill right now.

I do think it's wrong. Schools need more pressure to reopen, not less.
