I’m a pretty firm believer that throw Cranny, Houlihan, Schweizer, Johnson, etc together and they would naturally push each other to be better regardless of coaching. The benefit of being a part of BTC is the quality of the training partners, not necessarily the coaching.
You don't think it says something that Jerry can attract and keep all these athletes satisfied? I agree he's not perfect but I think he got a resume of successes that make him the top choice if you're looking to make a team at 1500m+. Honestly no other coach really comes close.
That coach at Newbury Park High is getting good club runners, and then keeping it rolling through their high school careers. He might be on to something.
