Just watched the 5K and thought their commentary was perfect. I’ll admit that I do find the dude to be quite funny in general, but being totally fair he talked about the athletes, gave plenty of time updates and did his dry humor thing.
I can see how the older people (“been watching for 45 years and this is the worst!”) wouldn’t find it amusing though. They’re using young people parlance like “clinger chose violence”, which I find pretty damn funny. I’m 42 btw.
Regardless, I had zero feed issues and liked the commentary. 8/10, will buy the next one.
Yes day 2 was great to me. The stream was working well, I found the commentary fun/insightful. The interview with Hassan was really good. It was a lazy weekend, I basically watched a ton of the conference coverage on ESPN/elsewhere. The Big 10 and SEC were probably the best, but the SEC action/budget are way above and beyond what Sound Running was working with. The Big 10 Network had two former track athletes on it who were pretty polished/excited and it was basically a more buttoned-up version of what Sound Running gave you. I liked that commentary style a lot for all of the races but in the 5,000 actually getting more humor and color around the athletes in the Sound Running race was preferable to the more traditional way the 5,000s were called at Big 10s. The Big 12 was more of a fair comp as production value was lower. It was up-and-down for me as a viewing experience because without the humor and not much to hype up at points there were moments of lethargy here and there.
