I’m going to go out on a limb and say he’ll run 10.2X. His genetics are insane and from what I’ve heard he has a faultless work ethic. If he has truly been training hard and receiving good coaching I don’t see 10.2X as outlandish

I'm just glad he sacked up and is going to run.
We hear so much about how this guy is "world class", and that guy is "world class" now one of those NFL guys is going to toe the line. Good for him.

Yeah Tyreek Hill was talking about running at the trials, but he hasn't even tried to race.

He’s gonna get smoked obviously but his start should be interesting.
Remember Tyreek Hill only got 5th in the 200m in his lone year of D1 track
Really the best thing that could happen for track and field is for DK to get annihilated by track sprinters on a big stage. Everyone in the NFL community should have nothing but HUGE respect for DK and his humility to put himself out there and accept a beating that he probably is aware is coming. Great for everyone and everything all around!
I just believe there is a way to bring these sports together that once was done by most NFL stars. The more the NFL can be humbled by real sprinters, I think it could lead to more promotion of NFL athletes competing in track meets in the offseason (so long as they can get past being humbled)

I agree with this - but has he been getting any coaching? If by any world class sprint coach, we would have heard about it, but I haven’t seen any photos floating round social media of him doing block starts with Lyles. Especially with his size, the start will be very hard to get right.
In saying that, he no doubt would have run track in HS? Anyone know any results?
There have been enough good college athletes competing in both football and track to know he won’t be slow, but I think 10.3 at best.
Also, as I don’t really follow football at all ... is this guy considered one of the fastest in the game?
He is probably one of the top 5 fastest, this all started after he clocked 22.64 mph on a chase down tackle and the USATF sent him a message that said your welcome to test yourself against real speed at the Olympic trials. So now he's trying to qualify.
Yeah I agree, I would like to see some proof of training. Would be mental if they’ve managed to keep it under raps.
He showed impressive speed to track down a player after a pick -
- however he is mostly impressive as a wide receiver because of his agility, speed and vertical ability for his size, he’s around 6”4 and 230

Don't know on coaching, but he was a track guy and ran hurdles (sub 15 FTW) and Triple-jumped over 46' :
https://www.athletic.net/TrackAndField/Athlete.aspx?AID=7200675It's possible those aren't the absolute best he could do, considering MS track isn't that strong. I predict 10.3x as well because he is just so big. The start will be tough.
At his top speed, DK is considered one of the fastest in the game. Tyreek Hill probably stands alone by reputation. Raheem Mostert who was sub 10.10 at Purdue I believe is the guy that actually clocks the fastest top speeds (Hill dogs it a bit when he gets loose to be fair). Mostert looks startlingly fast on the field too.

I doubt he decided to lose weight, google has Bolt at 6'5" and 207lbs compared to DKs 6'3" 229lbs. I remember Tyreek Hill said he would need to lose about 20lbs to get back in track shape and he weights about 185lbs at 5'10" per google. Metcalf has a lot of muscle that'll hamper him. I'm not sure how good Metcalf's blocks will be but I'd assume his acceleration is his best point and once he gets to top speed I'm not sure how well he'll hold form. So I'll keep my 10.4 at best and expect 10.6 for now.
My guess is he's running the 1500m or 5000m.
But seriously, these kind of things are good and fun.
We should also note that Marquise Goodwin has a legit shot at making the LJ team for Tokyo. He has an 8.12m legal jump this season. Probably will need a little improvement to get there, and he's had less successful outings since.

How'd he get a lane, anyway?
How'd he get a lane? Are you trying to act uneducated? The guy is bringing eyeballs to the sport.
I'd give him and every NFL wideout a lane. Hell I'd give him a spot in the Olympic Trials.

This dude could easily run 10.4 if he put any works into coming out of the blocks at all. and if he runs hard. He’d best much more suited to be the anchor in a 4x100 where he could get a moving start. 10.6 is probably a good guess tho.
It’d be much more exciting to see Tyreek hill run. Even tho the nfl should have never let him in their league.
I’m surprised he’s aloud to do this in his contract. I can’t imagine the Seahawks are too happy about this.
Make some noise!

Think you might be being facetious, but no you do not give him a spot in the Trials for being famous. A lane at any of these domestic meets? Sure.
It's more disappointing to me that some of these guys who have secure NFL futures don't try to make the Olympic team. Mostly calling out Tyreek Hill. I guess I shouldn't be surprised he'd talk a lot about doing it and then bail given his terrible character. Raheem Mostert I would love to see, but he's less secure in his spot and has battled so many injuries. Jalen Ramsey would be nice to see. Anthony Schwartz just got drafted, so I get him not participating. I'm not sure he's going to amount to anything in the NFL, so I'm not sure choosing football for him was the right move.
This is a total win win for Track and Field. If DK does good, that’ll put tons more eyeballs on the sport than usual. If he gets smoked, it’s gonna show that the track is where the real speed is and even the fastest NFL players have no chance against track athletes. This is good.
I ignored wind-aided PRs but this is what I got for the field. I just hope he ends up in the heat with Ronnie Baker. I'm mad at Football fans for thinking he can run with these guys but this is a W for the sport even if they're not talking too much about who he's racing.
BACON JAYLEN - PR 9.97, SB 10.18 (10.10 +2.3)
BAKER RONNIE - PR 9.87, SB 9.94

GILLESPIE CRAVON - PR 9.93, SB 10.13 (10.10 +2.4)
GREENE CEJHAE - PR 10.00, SB 10.00 (9.98 +2.7)
KING KYREE - PR 9.97, SB 9.97
METCALF DK - PR N/A, SB N/A
QUINN DEVIN - PR 10.01, SB 10.23 (10.23 +2.1)

YOUNG ISIAH - PR 9.92, SB 10.18 (10.02 +3.0)
He doesn't have a lane for the finals, just the meet this weekend. They gave him a lane in this race because he's a pro NFL player. No one is letting him waltz into the Trials, he is obviously trying to get an OTQ time.
RoJoke said give him a lane in the Trials. Hell just put him on the Olympic team outright. You want headlines and attention? Put Dwayne the Rock Johnson on the shot put. I mean it'll bring eyeballs to the sport right RoJoke?
To THOUGHTSLEADER point. These guys probably have clauses in their contracts about sustaining injuries in non-football related events so they are reluctant to take the financial risk.
No way he runs slower than 10.7 (even with a headwind)
The average ratio from this sample is about 2.395.
I.E., an 11 second 100m guy *should* be expected to run around 4.59, but may only have 4.7 or even 4.8 speed (line backer speed).
That said, DK should be a non-factor in his first track race after starting in the NFL (that I am aware of). Running fast for 100m is not the same as running lateral movement, quick stop and go you see in various contact sports.
I imagine elite sprinters would struggle with a proper curl route at the NFL level.
But this is great for the sport, and maybe DK makes us all eat crow.
