Nico paced for the first 20 minutes. Very nice run by those two.

Awesome
Really happy to see Ferro healthy still
Not really sure why Young didn't finish the race, he could've stuck with Nur and gotten the OTQ and the AJR.
Very nice work. Nur is a great prospect. He hasn't shown much basic speed but now has 13:26/27:47 after running 4:28 in high school.
3:43 1500 too, big potential!
He is a massive talent
young running the 5000m later this evening I believe

He is entered in the non-invitational heat of the 1500.
NAU went for a fast time in this race from the start.
I’m hope Grijalva get a very good pacer tonight and we see a sub 13:13.50 and Olympic qualifier for him.
I wish Nico would have finished so we could have seen the very ever USA junior break 28:00 in the 10k.

We'll see him run 27:40 soon enough. However, I don't think he will be eligible to break the record next year so he definitely needs to target it in the next few weeks.
Is there a live stream for the races?
On Flotrack there is a live stream
I have to add that this suggests just what quality that NAU xc team had this year. Two guys sub-28 already, with their best guy at nationals pacing through 20 minutes and thus likely even faster.
Grijalva healthy was even better last fall, which means that they would likely have four sub-28 guys on one roster, with the fifth and sixth guys probably in the mid to high 28s.
Outside of the old UTEP or WSU teams, were any other NCAA teams capable of this level in the past?

The John McDonnell era at Arkansas probably had a few teams on that level.
Because he was pacing and has a smart coach who isn’t rushing him

To add to this Grijalva ran 13:29 with a 54 close, which suggests he could've easily been mixing it up with Hocker at Oregon Relays or McDonald at Drake (13:19 with a 56 and 13:21 with a 55).

He should focus on the 1500/5000. There would be a risk of injury for an 18-year old to run a fast 10000 during the middle of a collegiate track season. In the big scheme of things, an AJR doesn't matter all that much. He's likely to have a long successful career ahead of him.

Add 30 seconds to their times and ask the question again. Obviously still super impressive, but for historical context, adjust accordingly.
Grijalva’s 13:29 was in normal Adi spikes, I believe, but on BU’s track. Again, impressive, but similarly shifting the dial just a bit.
It’s still early though, and I’d fully expect all those guys to run even faster. They very likely may set the standard of historic depth for which all teams in the new era of spikes/shoes chase.
His 13:29 was at the same meet not the Boston University track
13:29 at BU this winter in normal spikes, 13:29 yesterday in DFs, correct?
Nico's form is significantly better than last year. So much less head-bob
