In my opinion, the wave lights contributed MUCH more to Cheptegei's WR than the "super shoes".
Did Teg and Chris not have even pacing for their 5ks? I don't remember.
They did not. I mean, how old are you?
Googled some...
According to a recap from Letsrun, the splits for the leader(s) of the DN Galan 5000m were 2:33-2:33-2:39-2:39-2:29. This doesn’t seem terribly uneven. In fact, it’s pretty much how one would expect a DL race to be paced. The recap said the fast early pace strung the field out early, which is good. A post on the race thread during the race said that “Solinsky stayed off the surges.” So he most likely was a second or two back early on, but was right there with 300m to go. He was probably 2:34-2:34-2:38-2:38-2:31. Nothing a sub-13:00 (and 7:34 3K) guy can’t handle. He was 25 years 8 months old for this race.
This was the race Rupp got tripped up, hit the rail and fell with 1000m to go.
