I had an indoor meet the other day, and it didn't go super well for me. I didn't run terrible, (a few seconds slower than my PR) but I was beat by a few runners that I didn't lose to all last fall (in XC and a post season track 3200 some of us did). I wear more traditional spikes from a non Nike brand, while it seemed like everyone else in my heat had either the Dragonflys or Air Zoom Victorys that were released over the winter. There are a million factors that could have played into my not great performance, but some of these kids have made 15-20 second jumps over the winter seemingly out of nowhere, relative to the somewhat standard training they have been doing. I could be way overreacting, but do you all think that the new spikes can really take off a few seconds per mile compared to normal ones? And is it worth the $150-180 price to get some?
