Why is Billy Eilish popular? Please explain.

I can imagine it but I don't think I'd do it. One or two of her songs are OK. The rest are a bit wishy-washy.

acting depressed pretenting to be cool ...meh

She needs you to be okay because you're the reason she is okay, okay?

And also because of millions of dollars.

I haven't seen her in concert but I have a couple friends who did and they all seemed to have a great experience. There are plenty of artists who sound great on record but have absolutely no stage presence and make it boring.

You could say the same thing about people like Jeff Buckley or Elliot Smith: Their music sounds pretty laid back/not super exciting but their concerts are legendary for a reason. Connecting with the audience and having them engaged is what makes a concert great, not how hard you can jam to it. It's a problem Pink Floyd talked a good bit about, when they moved to arenas, it was really hard to get people past the first 10-20 rows connecting with the music, which is why they brought out stuff like that big inflatable pig on the Animals Tour.

Anyone here who has been to a concert knows that the feeling of connecting to the artist(s) onstage is incredible, especially if you're a fan of the music. Go watch a Jeff Buckley concert on Youtube and you'll see that people aren't out there headbanging (for the most part) but they feel like he's singing towards them.

Again, I haven't been to a Billie Eilish concert, but if she can connect with her audience (whom I imagine are in a really similar demographic as her) then I'd imagine it would be really enjoyable. Her music may not be the kind of music you're into which is fine, but a lot of people do like her music. I don't like thrash metal, but someone who's into it would probably love going to their favorite band's concert, even though I might say "can you imagine going to a concert? That would have to be the most painfully boring shyt to watch"
