She posted today on her story that she’s scratching “due to a cold”. She clearly took a look at the start list, pooped her pants a little and didn’t want to get 7th place and lose by 20 seconds to Schweizer so she makes up a weak excuse. Embarrassing.

Emma doesn’t seem like the type of person that would be afraid of competition.
One time I skipped a race because it was too cold. I don't regret it.

^This is probably it. Even if she thinks that she could be a contender today, she may be afraid that it would leave her flat for next week, which is arguably more important when it comes to the money she makes.

She is still entered in the 2 mile next week against Purrier.
I'm sure Coburn, with her gold, silver, and bronze medals, is "terrified" to race a group of 11 women who have a combined one silver and two bronze medals from World and Olympic competition (one of which was in the marathon).
I heard Tom Brady is terrified to face Patrick Mahomes tomorrow, too.

Exactly! I mean, I don't know her, or even know that much about her, but clearly, you don't get to be one of the best in any track event by being somebody who ducks competition.

Her results are fine. The steeple depth in the world has improved so I don't consider her a weak athlete by any means.
She prioritized next week's event because it's sponsored by NB.

But if you did, it would definitely be in the steeplechase.
Saw them in the Scottsdale canals last week .. she definitely had a bad cold.
