But if all D3 schools eliminate sports, where are those kids going to go? The number of seats available at all colleges does not change and the number of total students does not change.

Very few people need to be nervous about D3 schools eliminating sports. Again, few schools attract more applicants than they want. Loads of them have closed for lack of applicants and not doing that is a major concern for many more. The sports they sponsor are amenities just like a radio station, concerts, movies in the auditorium, etc. This is also true even at small D1 schools. Do you think Robert Morris has a football team because of the revenue it brings? If you're Willams or Colby this is no issue but if you're Suffolk or St. Vincent:
No hoops this year.
A joke as Div I is playing

Do not think all D1 schools are hurting. The Ohio State University for the 2019-20 fiscal year (July 1, 2019-June 30,2020), the department of athletics reported an increase in revenue of $23.3 million and a profit of $18.6 million.
You cherry picked one of the very few in the country that actually makes money every year lol.
What? Div I hoops and football don't make money for the schools? They sure makes lots of money for someone and it ain't the players

Athletics dummy. Cancel athletics and D3 schools save $2M.
Then explain to me why many DI coaches have been furloughed at some point in this process and not DIII coaches.
The vast majority of DI schools spend more money on athletics then they make. You can argue over where that goes and whether that’s right, but that’s a well researched fact. The vast majority of DIII athletics make more money for their schools (maybe not Wash U or U of Chicago but they’re the minority) than they spend and that’s a verifiable fact. “Acceptance rates” are a very poor argument otherwise & the books are often cooked for college rankings so those numbers themselves are unreliable.
Still don’t believe me? Then why are DI track/XC programs being cut (many more are on the way) and DIII’s aren’t? Why are DI coaches getting furloughed and DIII coaches aren’t?
Athletics don't make money for any D3 school. You can verify it in your own brain somehow, but it is untrue. D3 athletics will disappear in the near future.
What does a D1 coach being furloughed have to do with poor decisions at D3 schools? The D3 schools put themselves into holes that they can't recover from. Many D3 schools will disappear in the coming years and the ones that are able to survive will do so by cancelling athletics.

Someone else care to explain what this means when DIII coaches are being retained and DI coaches aren’t?
Time to just stop responding to him. He's either a troll or someone who really has no idea how the world works.
I have 3 friends who coach D1 and 1 who coaches D3. None were furloughed. I am unaware of any D1 coaches who were furloughed. But they were, it is because the ADs know how to manage a $125M budget while the D3 ADs fail at managing a $1M budget. D3 colleges are run by liberals who assume that the Government will come in to bail them out. But the D1 AD will have a program next year while the D3 AD who ran a deficit will be gone.

This is a nearly impossible to read non-sensical post.
There have been a ton of people in this thread saying that DIII coaches haven't been furloughed.
So what are you talking about?

I know many more than that...and they're not exactly advertising when they get furloughed because it would be a bad look. But there is a clear trend.
