Any company that gives X% to Y charity is charging their customers X% too much.

Apple has, or had several years ago when I talked to an Apple employee who was a former coworker, a policy of not making any charitable donations on its own, just matching all donations by its employees. I expect that was easier for the company than having to decide on its own and risk offending someone.

Yeah, I stopped buying Nike because of their racist stands (or kneels). Pretty well youtube and all advertisement is on board. IMO, they are using race to overthrow the country, turning Americans against themselves. Class and race warfare is what the communists do. My brother in law is a big wig at security expert at a big shoe company not associated with running, and he had to undergo "white privilege" training. He is now looking for a new job. But the thing is, there will be no place to go to not get away from this social conditioning. Most big schools are on board with BLM, and Biden will most likely bring it in as mandatory for gov. workers and probably all schools to undergo this conditioning.

Eh, I care about this as much as I did when Nike supported Kaepernick kneeling, which is to say not at all. If a company provides decent products then they can say whatever they want (barring some obviously horrific things) and I'll still buy their stuff regardless, it's a free country and I'm not gonna miss out on a whole company's lineup of gear because I can't swallow my objections to a company's politics. As long as Saucony keeps making good stuff and their leadership isn't killing babies, invading the capitol, or destroying their hometown in a riot, they'll still have my business.

Companies drifted this way as our societal zeitgeist shifted from a "me" focused mentality to a "we" focus. Think of '80s "greed is good", look at me hair, one man army Rambo vs. 2020 "we're all in this together", HS girls all with the same flat, straight hair, fight in a big team - the Avengers and their 100 closest superhero team friends. It lets the company say "we are in this too, we care, we don't just love money". They just might not care about what you care about.

The "we" undercurrent exists even though we don't all agree on what "we" should be rallying together about.

If you can only read one, I recommend Pendulum. I also recommend The Accidental Superpower (about America's rise and world-police role).

Your brother is quitting his job because he had to undergo white privilege training, and you don't think that's a bit over the top? Saucony donates 20% of proceeds ON MLK DAY to black-focused nonprofits and now the apocalypse is coming? You lot act like the sky is falling good lord.

When Biden gets inaugurated, log off of social media for a year. Don't engage in political discourse with anyone, and ignore the emails you get from these companies asking you to donate to causes you don't care about. I guarantee you find your life doesn't change one bit.

In the last 5 years or so the quality of their shoes has taken a nose dive. They are probably way cheaper to make but they charge more. Now we know where the money goes.
