This is likely what will happen to Logan Paul. People think Mayweather is “old” and he’s only 43. Aged but he’s fit. If he were 60 this would be a different story. Tyson was completely drained by the end of his last fight and he’s 11 whole years older than Mayweather.
You can see in his punches from that video (from only 2 years ago) he has striking power that exceeds Paul’s previous opponent KSI by magnitudes. Mayweather will play defense until he gets Paul weathered then will start laying on body shots. A few of those pops and Paul will be vulnerable. If Paul is legitimately trying to beat him up and won’t let go he’s going to get laid out.
I think Mayweather’s strategy will be to let Paul wear himself out, then lay on progressively heavier body shots and hope Paul taps out for his own good, and if Paul won’t tap out he’ll get to a point where he decides he’s ready for it to be over and start combo-ing him until he’s open for a headshot and end it. Getting rocked like that by a trained, true fighter is a completely different game from what Paul has been doing against KSI. Mayweather will give Paul multiple chances to concede at each progressive stage, if he’s too stubborn he’ll get knocked out once Mayweather decides enough’s enough. Once Paul gets popped by a few consecutive shots he’ll be wide open for a headshot.
There is no shame in losing to Mayweather. Just has to have to humility to drop out before it gets dangerous. There is always a fraction of a chance for Paul to get off one surprise clean pop to the head that weakens Mayweather and opens the door but it’s highly improbable. There is no way Paul wins without a KO. His only chance is if Mayweather leaves a window open, gets clocked, then is vulnerable and Paul takes advantage. Highly unlikely but I’d love to see it just for the drama.
