I've "raced" Olivier... wouldn't really call him a runner and more of an endurance hiker. Last 50km trail we ran together, I beat him by almost 2 hours. Such a strange sport.

It's been unexpectedly satisfying to leave this race stream on in the background throughout the day and check in from time to time.

That must have been the Fat Ass Elizabeth Furnace 50k in 2018.
http://www.vhtrc.org/results/2018/ElizabethFurnac.htmUsually he wins most of his races. I am pretty sure he let you get away with this one because this was just a warm up for Olivier for something else.

Oliver's done over 170 miles in 24 hours. One of the best in the world in the 24.
I'm guessing that Zach is having some stomach issues. He has had a lot of 4 minute laps recently, indicating a 2min break, and much too often. you'd only want to do that once every few hours but he's had multiple in the last hour.

Not bad for a 'non runner'....
Zac Bitter seems to be slowing now, covered his last 10 laps or so at about 2:15-20 after a break.
He was off to a flier , first 5 laps (2km) in 8:40
Not very smart running for someone with a 180 M goal.
Ryan Clifford's pace is even weirder.
Was leading at 100km through that in 7:33 !!
But he ran 91min for the 10km from about 108 to 118km, then 43min for the next 10km
WTF?
Zach just had a 15 minute lap, the announcers said his calf seized up during a bathroom break. He's now running 4+ minute laps so it doesn't look good currently...

He's been chicked now.

And followed that up with 46 min for next 10km !!, or about 3:08 marathon pace for the last HM
Included in that is a 4;15km around 121-122km
Insane 200 mile pace.
These record attempts and races are showing just how incredible Kouros was.
Would love to see Big Jim have a crack at this over three or four years, but I don't know if he has the discipline, as it's the type of record that will take six or seven goes before you have enough experience to even challenge Kouros.
I'm sorry, but absolutely zero chance. 11:20 of running is so much different than 24 hours. The 100 mile record is quite weak and a number of runners could break it. The 24 hour record is very strong, and I highly doubt anyone running right now could get it. I would expect he won't actually go the full 24 hours. If he does, I would expect he'll be at least a full marathon short.
Oh, it's going on now? Yeah, not surprised.
it's over
not happening
Leader through 100M in just under 12:45
Second place Clifford is still charging, and 8 laps from 100M
What's a normal slowdown on one of these?
How many miles or km did Kouros cover in the following:
1st 6 hours
2nd 6 hours.
3rd 6 hours.
4th 6 hours.
The guy in the lead right now is on pace at 14 hours for 176 miles but some rough math shows it took him about 6.5 hours to run his 1st 200 laps and then 7 hours his next 200 laps.
In terms of 6 hours, he ran roughly 184.5 laps (45.87 miles) during his first 6 hours and 175.5 (43.6 miles) in his next 6. That doesn't seem like much of a slowdown at first glance but when you do it in terms of minutes per mile, he averaged basically 7:51 per mile for hte 1st 6 hours and then 8:15 for the next 6.
For comparison's sake, Kouros averaged 7:38.44 mile pace for 24 hours whereas the next best man in history only averaged 8:12.58 .
Your Google not working. Jeepers rojo, you never surprise
This is just one snap of an article found in a second.
for those curious about how things are going..
Ryan Montgomery is leading, projected 176 miles.
Jacob Jackson projected 167mi
Nick Coury projected 167mi as well.
Nick Coury has been putting on a clinic at 2:06-2:12/lap with very little variation.
