Good or bad guy. What mid major pays well these days anyhow. It works for them
What would you consider “pays well” in regards to mid major salaries?

What a terrible hire.
Do they even have sprinters?

Most mid majors start around $25-30k depending on how many coaches they have. Lower mid majors might have 1 fulltime head coach and 1 part time assistant. That part time assistant could make anywhere from $15-20k for a salary. The upper echelon of mid majors usually pay $30-35k to the lowest paid full time assistant. I've had colleagues who's first paid job at a mid major started at $36 and that was almost 10 years ago. So my guess is that they pay similar or more. That's usually with 4 coaches
An average dual gender program HC 55k-85k.
An average single gender HC 45k-70k
Lead assistant 40k-60k
Secondary assistants 32k-40k

Ok I got it. I remember my first assistant gig was 33k, second gig was 35k and after a few years of building the program up was bumped to 50k.
It’s all public (if it’s a public school) here is some of the information I found out when I looked it up in 2019.

Vermont- assistant coach 53k / head coach 79k
Connecticut- assistant coach 53k / head coach 95k
George Mason- assistant coach 52.5k / head coach 98.5k
U Mass- assistant coach 31.8k / head coach 83k
Idaho- assistant coach 47k / head coach 67k
Idaho State- assistant coach 52k / head coach 64k
Northern Colorado- assistant coach 38k / head coach 52k
Cal Poly- assistant coach 60k / head coach 98k
Long beach State- assistant coach 56k / head coach 99k
UNC Willminton- assistant coach 37k / head coach 55k
Charlotte- assistant coach 45k / head coach 83k
UTSA- assistant coach 50k / head coach 95k
Marshall- assistant coach 28k / head coach 55k
Youngstown state- assistant coach 35k / head coach 55k
Illinois State- assistant coach 49.5k / head coach 86k

Are these schools not fully staffed or were you not able to find everyone's info
Definitely wrong with three schools. Illinois state ,
Northern Colorado and Marshall. Much higher salaries .

I only looked at the assistant XC coach and HC, as I mentioned this was 2018/19 when I looked so the salaries are likely higher now.

Spill the beans, who did they hire? Also is this for the sprint position? I believe their former sprint coach left unless I'm thinking of a different event group.
Where is Nick Gibson off to?

Yeah they made their decision a couple weeks ago.
the press release says that AU will be adding long and short sprinters to their program.
UIC had two positions open. They filled one, but not the second.
So then who is it?

Which positions were open and which was filled?

This is for distance. I don't know who the other candidates are. I had an interview for it. Don't know anything about the sprint position.
