I remember seeing this workout and not believing it at all.
800 in 1:44
10 min rest
500 in 64
4 min rest
400 in 52
2 min rest
300 in 39

Any workout with a 1:44 800 in it is suspect. No matter who. Crazy

Agreed.
You have to admit this is an absolutely amazing workout pushing the limits of the human body. Obviously with science too, but incredible. I challenge anyone to find a more impressive middle distance workout than this.
Talent + hard work + science = Olympic champion
Oh my. A thing of real beauty.
I feel like I've almost had a workout just watching it.

How so? He ran the 800 first on fresh legs, are you saying a 1:44 is suspect. If anything was suspect it would be what he did after.

Do you also suspect that it's impossible to do such a workout without drugs?
Should have chemical brothers for the soundtrack

That is obviously what 'Harambe' is referring to, the reps afterwards, therefore 'Any workout with a 1:44 800 IIINNN IIITTTT, IN THE SESSION, WITH REPS AFTERWARDSSS is suspect. No matter who. Crazy'.
Hope that dumbed it down enough for you.
As hard to believe as it is, 800m time trials can be as quick or quicker than 800m races. We have seen evidence of that from Molly Beckwith(?), who ran 1:57 in a workout a few years ago. Supposedly El G ran 1:42 in a workout. He had full rest, ten minutes, after the 1:44 for the 64 500m. He subsequently ran a 2:13.09 1000m race, about ten days after this workout. In that race, he was held back by his 2nd pacer and splits were not ideal. He had a 2:12 flat or better in the tank that day. Evan Scully, the trainer filming that workout, insisted that he was absolutely clean.
Oh, the camerman insisted he was clean? Well then I'm convinced too!
T.M. basically did 5 x 400m in 52 seconds. I consider T.M. an elite 1000m man. What would the other sub-2:14 1000m men do in a 5 x 400m workout?
Note: Posters at least a few times a month post a 4 x 400m workout at 800m race pace.
Of course, a 5 x 400m workout at 800m race pace is more difficult than 4 x 400m at 800m race pace. For a legit 1000m man, the workout was plausible.
The 800m is the only impressive bit of that workout...

So it is impossible to run a sub maximal 500 400 300 after a fast 800.
Every thing other than the 800 was very slow compared to what he can do, if he ran an 1:44 at the end that would be crazy, but 800 then some sub maximal rest after 10 minutes rest doesn't seem weird to me.
I was wondering why you guys believe that the human body is not capable of running anymore after a 1:44.5 with 10 minutes rest.Even the 800 was not all out and every and no other rep was even remotely close to all out.
No need to be rude.I realized he was talking about the reps after.
I also should have said , in my first comment, that I'd use not think what he did after was suspect because it was relatively slow.
TM has an 800m PB of 142, so running 2 seconds slower, still hard, but it's the first rep, so he can manage it.
All his workouts were 13 sec/100m, except the 500m was 12.8, that's most impressive! But with the very long rest and huge drop in distance, someone with good turnover can handle this. He's not the thin/lanky miler type, he's definitely got some extra muscle on quads so it looks like (who knows) his top end speed should be good. He also looks very very smooth, and like he's enjoying it!
His workout sort of reminds me of something said back in the good old days of running: to run your 400m PB, race a mile, rest 10 minutes, than hammer the 400. Your legs will be well warmed up and primed for fast running. This advice surely is not true for an elite, maybe more so for a 10k or marathon plodder, but still, that dropping in distance after fast but short "race" should make things doable.
Thoughts?
ask any american high schooler where their 400m PR is from.
4x400m at the end of a meet on a double or triple.
Hmmm...
After considering...yes I have to agree.
The 800 m time is a big outsider. Cud it have been mis-timed? Maybe it was 1:48 or somethin like that.
What was his usual 800-split at 1500m races? 1:50ish?
With all this said, I dont doubt for a second that Big-Mac put a lot of shady things (read: PEDs) into his hamburgers. Maybe the bread and dressing were jacked up as well...

Evan Scully was his physical trainer for several years.
Here's the post from five years ago from a guy calling himself Evan Scully and giving his email address. In other post on that page, he also states that Makhloufi weighed 152-54 lbs.

I usually don't come on to this mindless website that incites hate and negativity. But a friend said I would have a good laugh on this tread.
I read a post on here years ago about "how much pasta do i need to eat to run a PB".
Ok, so if you click into Taoufiks wiki page, you will see I'm his therapist and S&C coach.
Like nearly everyone on here, i used to think i wasn't honest. UNTIL i met him. I live with him. We haven't been apart for more then 3 days (In May) since January. I think my experience will be more valuable then anyones preconceived ideas.
If you have any questions then i will gladly answer them on my email address (
), as i don't intend to come back on this manic site which is run by keyboard warriors who would even run to the toilet, never mind run a decent time in a race.
