Meanwhile COVID patients patients continue to enter the ICU. No sign of letting up.
This is the weirdest herd immunity I’ve ever seen!

If we really can’t get to herd immunity to this virus then we might as well give up on a vaccine. All a vaccine does is get to herd immunity faster and usually safer.

First 6 months 51 405 deaths in Sweden, the highest since 1869. In average 4633 more than the years 2015-2019. And in the beginning of this year it was lower than the previous years. Hope that this will give you more insight.
.
I does.
And now the daily deaths have been in single figures for three plus months.
Not locking down worked.
Update: Hello again, last week 84 deaths, this week so far 59. Infections on the rise. More and more restrictions. Regions are protesting. More and more hospitals are showing signs of crises. Todays report: 4497 infections 25 deaths. Neighbor Norway 566, 0. Sweden 6082 deaths, Norway - half the population 285. But even in Norway, there might be a second lockdown. And a first in Sweden, beacuse of a failed strategy.[/quote]
Thank you for the statistics. Did Dr. Seuss give you these? If you want to give people information, next time make sure they are verified. Otherwise you end up being discredited and looking like a clown.

Wassup my guy? Don't like the numbers? Did you think he was making them up?
Sweden's cases have been on a steadier rise since Sept 20th and deaths since about the 7th.
November data:
11/1 - 1303 cases, 5 deaths - sunday, often lower reported numbers
11/2 - 1575 cases, 10 deaths
11/3 - 3615 cases, 5 deaths
11/4 - 4480 cases, 24 deaths
11/5 - 4750 cases, 20 deaths
11/6 - 4481 cases, 6 deaths
11/7 - 4459 cases, 9 deaths
11/8 - 2113 cases, 3 deaths - sunday, often lower reported numbers
11/9 - 3736 cases, 4 deaths
11/10 - 4160 cases, 3 deaths
11/11 - 4206 cases, 13 deaths
Source? Why are you including back logged additions into daily counts; a bit deceptive.
No. The talking point Harambe is mocking is: "The IFR/symtomatic rate is much lower than we think so a high percentage of Swedes have had the virus are immune." Clearly this isn't the case as 1) increasing infections, hospitalizations and deaths (i.e. second wave) 2) All evidence points to durable medium-long term immunity after infection. So, the hypothesis that Sweden's "strategy" allowed rapid viral penetrate and herd immunity of the summer is... entirely false. Whereas, a vaccine would be an effective way of reaching herd immunity given the above data.

No, when you add them up you will se that it is true. The problem with the counting is that the Swedish Health Athorities only update 4 times a week. LeadFoilHat, I know that you are trying to defend the Swedish strategy. But just now, they are closing more and more down. Alcohol restrictions from 10 o'clock in Stockholm, you can not visit your elderly at care homes and so on and so on.
Funny how you Trumpy covidiots are so smitten with a place that has many "socialist" policies.

Right you are. They think swedes are doing this because they love the trumpian conception of freedom. I am a citizen from a country with a conservative goverment, And every member of the Conservative Party are jubilant for the Biden victory. They are fed up with all the conspiracy theories and all the lies. Well, actually I voted for them. But in USA they think that it is socialist policies in Sweden, but not so.

The point is that people were claiming Sweden was ALREADY at herd immunity. Clearly this is not the case.
A vaccine giving us herd immunity is far safer than simply letting people die until we get there, glad we agree on that.

Some people are fuc*ing stup*d. As would've George Carlin said.
The main point and argument against so called Sweden's strategy to reach so called herd immunity is that the master of this strategy himself Anders Tegnell has said that it was a bad bad bad mistake.
The 4 or 5 COVID wackos on this board are about 2 millimeters from endorsing government run infection camps just to support their herd immunity theories - after the data have proven them wrong again... and again... and again.
UPDATE. Swedish Health Authorites, Folkhälsamyndighten. Just now.
4658 new infections, 40 new deaths. Anders Tegnell says that he is worried. He is the mastermind behind the Swedish Strategy.
Here's the whole progression of the pandemic in Sweden:
New cases have been skyrocketing (herd immunity, hey what?) for several weeks, and fatalities have begun to follow. Predictably even.
Here is a comparison between US and Sweden, for $hits and giggles, first for cases, then for fatalities:
The US is heading into a long hard winter. Sweden is about to get hammered also. Among countries with more than 5M population, US and Sweden are currently sitting at 11th and 15th for overall fatalities per million, tending in an unfortunate direction.
You are incorrect. NYC and NJ are forcing businesses (restaurants, gyms, etc.) to close at 10pm. Cuomo is prohibiting PRIVATE residences from having gatherings with more than 10 people. I tested negative in my school 2 weeks ago, but because a student in my class tested positive, I was told that I had to quarantine for 2 weeks, not leaving the house for any reason other than emergencies, to get tested or to go to a doctor. This isn't beyond the scope of a government?

This is false. Tegnell has said no such thing about Sweden's overall strategy. He did lament the failure of the government to keep Sars-Cov-2 out of long term care homes back in the spring, which had devastating results.
Sweden continues to do better than lockdown-happy countries like UK, Spain, France, Italy, Belgium, etc.

Thank you for the information. Very usefull. US, actually 8th and Sweden 16th (more than 5M).
Is there any real data out there? Not this unsubstantiated lefty stuff?
All everyone knows and sees is that there is nothing even remotely abnormal going on. Hospitals quiet. No ambulances. Hospital parking lots empty. Hospital staff staying at home.
This is exactly the way to do it. That's what they do in normal countries when they try to minimize the spread. You should be glad. You go to school? Never imagined.

You are right. Tegnell never said that. But the comparision with these countries? Sweden is lagging behind, but is now on the rise. Why not compare Sweden to the Nordic neighbors, also "lockdown-happy"?
